Re: Drive Practice
We build a practice bot and have a half field in our shop. There's a smooth transition from build to driving practice. At first, drive practice requires stopping and starting multiple times to fix,...

Re: Practice Robot?
We are a small, low budget team with just a few mentors, and we build one.
We started building a practice robot two years ago when we had about 8 students. We did it again last year with about 15...

Re: LOGO search...
It's a great idea to check this first. Here's a suggestion:
1. Go to The Blue Alliance (previously linked) and type in the search bar any team names you are thinking of.
2. For each team, check to...

Anyone else have issues with FIM registration? That was thoroughly frustrating, tbh.

Re: Moving Championships back
At ISEF (much bigger crossover with AP exams than FIRST) students take their APs right at the event. That way they don't need to schedule the event around them. That might be a future option for...

Our team has run FLL camps for four years; this year we have 4 weeks of basic and 2 weeks of advanced FLL camps (all nearly full already - yay!, plus FTC and Arduino camps.) Shoot an email to ...

Re: Average Team OPRs going in to Einstein
The fact that OPR doesn't correlate well with rankings doesn't necessarily make it useless. There is more than one logical conclusion to draw. I think the fact that it seems to correlate less this...

Re: MI is the best?
I don't think you can use this year's championship to judge that.
It would be better to look at performance over several years, and probably not even including this year.

Re: Replacing graduating seniors
Make your lead programmer a drive team member. :) That gives incentive to a large and sometimes thankless role. It's also incredibly helpful at the field.

Sorry to be unclear; yes, I was quoting the requirements from the manual for Rookie All-Star in order to clarify that robot performance is only one piece of the equation and it is more about...

That is one of four requirements:
■ This team seems like a “Chairman’s Award team in the making.” (Community activities,
leadership, vision, spirit, etc.)
■ The team is...

Re: Possible interference during San Diego Finals
As a mother my first thought was... Where are the children's parents? A short wall is not sufficient protection between a small child and several 120 lb machines programmed and controlled by students.

Re: How are you spending your last day?
Put in the RSL, tidied up the wiring, took off our withholding allowance items, bagged, and had snacks. Oh, and a group was working to finish the practice bot.

We use pit scouting to find out about the robot and the team and use match scouting to find out about performance. That won't change this year.
