Re: pic: 2471's car drive for BunnyBots 2016
So this is basically the mullet of FRC drives.
I think the only time I've seen a "car drive" style have success in a competition was 2008. What exactly is the competition like that you will be in?

Re: Most Competitive Events 2017
Can't leave 2338 out of the discussion on Midwest (2015, 2016 Midwest Chairmans, 2015 Midwest Champs, 2014, 2016 Midwest Finalists, not to mention 2015 World division champs and SF's on...

Re: pic: Team 2451 Pwnage
Sorry about this. I'm going to work on getting the file available in a google docs folder. I'll update when it's there with a link.
Until I get that set up if you go to our website here...

On the topic of cool tech-related contests, here (https://insider.razerzone.com/index.php?threads/razer-goliathus-design-contest.16597/) is a contest Razer has going on right now through 10/8.
They...

Re: pic: MVRE-109, high-recision shafted encoder
I would also wonder about any certifications or testing that would need to be done due to it being an electrical device. I know when we were working on custom slip rings, we thought one part of being...

Re: Custom Gearboxes
Sorry for the large image.
So in the picture you can see where the standoffs are round. The 2x1 tubing goes along where those standoffs are rounded. The tube is then trapped with the face of the...

Re: Custom Gearboxes
+1.
In all my gearboxes I generally keep the custom parts to only the gearbox plate(s), the drive tube (if WCD Style) or sheet metal chassis, and maybe an encoder mounting plate of some kind....

Re: Custom Gearboxes
So in general, aluminum for the plates and standoffs are fine. 6061 is a good general material for both, but the standoffs will generally just be whatever aluminum your supplier uses. You could do...

Re: Who makes their own wheels?
The sprockets were pinned to the wheel shaft. The wheels with the sprockets that have hex were the ones driven by the gearboxes. This allowed the output shaft of the gearbox to slide right into the...

Re: Who makes their own wheels?
The answer to "what was the run time" was too much. They definitely took some time. Sorry I don't have an exact answer, I want to say we got them week 3 but I'm just about guessing it was so long...

8X 775 SS WCD
Okay, last one for a while I promise. This one is actually useful, unlike the 1.625" wheel one. This is a good setup to test some different things with a 775 drive, as it allows us to test anywhere...

Re: Who makes their own wheels?
In 2013 we ran an 8WD with custom aluminum wheels with blue nitrile wrapped around. The wheels were also hubless and had a tube shaft as part of the wheel. This allowed larger bearings to be run...

Re: 8x 775pro, 2-speeds
Yeah I generally only use button head or counter-sunk if I have to. However on the outisde of your drive I would have used button head since that's the very outside of the drive. It would make...

Re: 6X 775 - 6X 1.625" Drive
I actually used male/female threads for the 3/4" spacing between the 775 plate and inner-drive plate. This way all the standoffs can remain installed and to take off the motors you just loosen the 4...

6X 775 - 6X 1.625" Drive
Because I don't design outrageous things enough...
each drive side is 8.03lbs with everything shown (only thing that should be missing is the M4s to mount the 775s. Didn't design out the full frame...
