Re: WPILib 2017 Control System

Ah it runs right through network tables. Thank you. We ran our vision code on a raspberry pi 3 last year and it worked wonderfully. It's much more powerful than the roborio so I don't see why we...

Re: WPILib 2017 Control System

So, if we run the vision code on say a raspberry pi, can we stream the output to the driver station computer?

Re: FRC Countdown Alexa skill

Yeah I could setup a github repo with instructions on how to install.

I wanted to publish it to the skill store, but i ran into issues with using the FIRST logo and some other small things. I'm...

FRC Countdown Alexa skill

Hey guys, I quickly made this Alexa skill when I got an echo dot for Christmas.

You can trigger it by saying "Alexa, ask FRC bot how long until kickoff" and it will respond with days, hours, and...

Re: Should we use std::unique_ptr?

Yes WPIlib is moving to using more of the standard library pointer wrappers. I like using them because it makes it way easier to manage the code. Also you don't have to cast to a subsystem pointer....

Re: Docker for FRC - Better Environment Setup

I think this is a neat idea. I'm not sure about packaging national instruments software like that though. There is probably some restrictive licensing with their software especially for FRC...

Re: Utilizing breaks between matches.

I don't know much about how strict an official FIRST event is run, but do you need approval for something like this? I'm sure people would be willing to volunteer to play some sort of analyst role in...

Re: Alternatives to RoboRIO or Robot Controllers

The good thing about that solution is that you can really easily set up actuators and motors like you said. I like that aspect a lot. Is there a way to mount an IMU or something like that? I see some...

Re: Alternatives to RoboRIO or Robot Controllers

I do like the simplicity of the myRIO as well. I don't really like how it is not open source and it seems like there is little documentation for it besides outdated forum posts.

Re: Alternatives to RoboRIO or Robot Controllers

That looks great! I think this is more what we are looking for. I like the fact that is just a barebone linux machine with a bit more robustness. The price point is also really great. I plan on...

Re: Alternatives to RoboRIO or Robot Controllers

Thanks for the suggestion! I was looking at that and it looks like it only supports C#? Our project lead really wants to use python for everything. Is there a way that we can connect this to a PC and...

Alternatives to RoboRIO or Robot Controllers

Hello all,

I am looking for an alternative to a roboRIO or some sort of middle interface for controlling robot hardware. I am on a college robotics team and competing in a competition which requires...

Re: Microsoft USB Camera Freezing on Pi

Why put sunglasses over it? Is it because the image is getting over exposed? Does that freeze the sensor somehow?

Re: Moved to JAVA - help with vision tracking

Hmm. I'll try to mess around with the GPU calls. Seems like it could lead to an improvement. However with our setup, I don't know if a raspberry GPU will make much of a difference.

Re: Moved to JAVA - help with vision tracking

What kind of FPS were you getting? Do the GPU calls make a big difference? We ran our vision code on a raspberry pi and wrote it in C++.

Re: Mecanum Demo-Bot Recommendations?

True. I didn't want to recommend something I had never used. :)

It's probably cheaper and easier.

Will there be an official Blue Alliance listing?

Also, I'm definitely going pick up a t-shirt! :)

Exclamation Having trouble with new robot program and Command.cpp

Hey all, I know summer CD is slow and the C++ subsection is basically dead during the summer, so I decided I should put this in general programming to get a bit more attention.

So down to the...

Re: Is the roboRio compatible with more than 2 cameras at the same time?

Yes a usb splitter would work. It is just a regular Linux machine so it will work. I think you can actually set up two or more streams at once using a tool called mjpeg streamer. Look it up on Chiefs...
