Re: RSN's New Show: check_in!

So is 148.

In other news, I'd like to ahead of the time thank these teams for what they are willing to share through check_in! Many teams keep things "closed doors". It will be great for our...

Andy, I just ordered a new Thomas 215 and had it delivered to AndyMark. We've been meaning to try one and this seems like the perfect time. Thanks for running these tests, I'll PM you a return...

Re: 1.1 Pump (am-3227) Really an improvement?

Thank you for running this test, real data is the best data.

Any chance you can post the set up you used for other teams to recreate. Additionally it would be fantastic if you could compare with...

Re: 1.1 Pump (am-3227) Really an improvement?

Agreed, we have a 98c in the shop and the sticker shows the 12v rating is legal, but the website data at 13.8v showing its over the 1.1. I would love to see FRC increase the cfm rating or at least...

Re: Colsons vs. VersaWheels vs. Treaded Traction Wheels

Ah yes, the great traction wheel debate.
Has anyone done any actual testing with direct comparison recently? I'd love to know more about the test rig that was used.

In my experience, width,...

Re: pic: 1678 Offseason Robot Progress

Inquiring minds would love to see more details on this. Maybe its just me but the complexity of this machine seems like a change from the typical 1678 design mentality. Just pushing the boundaries...

Re: Alternatives for Signal and Pneumatic Connectors?

I am curious what brand and model of push-to-connector and tubing you are using that has given you problems. There are a number of different manufactures for each. Tubing also comes in different...

Re: pic: 1678 Offseason Robot Progress

Looks like 1678 caught a little bit of the small robot fever for the offseason. Can't wait to see some pictures of the completed robot.

Re: Worst you've seen to the Defenses?

Our base driver had a love/hate relationship with the Sally Port this year. It was damaged in a number of matches and the field crew gave the team some pieces as a trophy (notably a gas shock and a...

Re: Achieving Consistency

Pneumatics. In all seriousness the repeatable force and defined retracted and extended positions allow your robots mechanisms to be where you want them. Giving up full range of motion simplifies not...

Re: pic: High Traction Drivetrain Concept

Mounting your bumpers as low as possible and limited rock is an excellent way to gain traction in a pushing match, and something 558 does as well. Where we differ is that if we are designing for...

Re: Robowrangler Sheet Metal Giveaway Round 2

Very interesting, can you share in the details of the gearbox design and ratios you tested. It seems a number of teams had varying success with the 775pros in drivetrains during the 2016 season....

Re: Robowrangler Sheet Metal Giveaway Round 2

Thanks for offering these parts up to teams, 558 would like to get our hands on some sheetmetal parts for sure. I noticed you say this was used for testing the 775pro motors in the drivetrain. Would...

Re: The STEM Pipeline is Broken

This right here is the number one reason while I have a strong interest in teaching, I remain in the industry as a manufacturing engineer. Years as in at least 5-10 years.

Re: paper: Stop the Stop Build

Re: [FIRST EMAIL] Stop Build Day Survey

It is already possible within the rules to change to a 100% new robot over the course of a whole season.

I am all for open build season. Save us the time and money of a twin robot and let us iterate...

Re: Best simple robots based on kit chassis?

I'd like to throw a hat tip to the VEX drive in a day chassis, 558 used it to success back in 2014 and we loved it. Its our go to for prototyping.

If you are looking to stay simple I would 100%...
