I know in the most recent instance I've looked at replacing a chain with a belt I was looking to remove slop from the system and would be using GT2 profile belts and pulleys to do so.

This can't be right. I'd assume FIRST has some knobs and levers to help promote regional growth. They CAN'T have been doing this for so many years without having some knowledge of how to spur growth.

Some of it could be prearranged things like "hey we're having issues with getting checks cut from our school/sponsor" or working with the RD to secure funding.

You're probably right, the globes got removed right about when I started doing things other than pure software. I'm pretty sure window motors were no mods though.

Add into it that there's WAY too much that goes into retention/growth to make that claim. We'd have to account for economic conditions, grants, and probably a dozen things I haven't even thought of.
