Re: Robot in 3 Days 2017

While I support your sentiments ... It is my belief that Ri3D is a decent starting point. Anyone who brings a Ri3D robot to a competition will have a hard time winning.

Ri3D gives a very good...

Re: [FRC BLOG] This isn't a Robot, Housing, and Throwing Things

While I believe you are right that is could be enforced, I do not believe it will be enforced.

... and if they could have used T6 before, and chose not to, what makes you believe that they will use...

Re: [FRC BLOG] This isn't a Robot, Housing, and Throwing Things

Unfortunately, I believe that this will be just another unenforceable, penalty-less rule issued by FIRST (just like the no saving seats rule) with no one given the responsibility of enforcing...

Re: Exhaust in Solenoids

Mike,

Just be aware that this method reduces the burst pressure of the tubing and can allow the tube to balloon and pop.

Re: New coach question: when does FIRSTchoice stuff ship?

Everybody misses something.

Good lesson for the students (and mentors  ) to learn.

Re: Vanity Bumpers

LOL.
I think big Al would be wondering "Does this come in Tie-dye?"

Re: T-Shirt Cannon

*gets up on soapbox*

1> The pressure in the barrel is enough to fire the t-shirt, thus it is enough to fire PVC shards.
2> A box around the lower half of a PVC cannon might help. Are you willing to...

Re: CPU overload with java

Running 100% isn't necessarily a problem. CPUs do it all the time.

Running 100% on both cores ALL THE TIME, most likely is an issue. You don't seem to have this issue.

I wouldn't worry too much...

Re: What is the most ghetto thing you've seen on a robot?

This year at Dalton the RI (Hi Brandon) stated that the robot signal light was too low and could not be seen from all angles.
The students fix: Mount a Coca-Cola can on the robot and mount the Robot...

Re: Ball bouncing out of the high Goal

Which is why I posted the way I did.

By dampening rather than stopping the shot, it effectively limits the energy (speed) in the shot.

Re: Ball bouncing out of the high Goal

I believe your statement here is incorrect (or just an assumption)

Please show where the GDC has expressly stated that the intent of the chains is to stop the balls after being shot into the high...

Re: The REAL chokehold of 2016

G25B may be employed here as the robot is attempting to blockade the goals.

Also, if this strategy was used against me, I'd instruct my driver to pin the offending robot at 30 seconds left in the...

Re: How to change catapult shot strength?

For the range -- you could use an electronic pressure regulator downstream of the main regulator. That would allow you to adjust the pressure from 0 - 60 PSI controlled by tour RoboRio.

For angle --...

Re: Flow Valves

Putting a low side volume alleviates the issue of the regulators CV (mostly).

Getting 2 solenoids to fire 2 actuators at the same speed is tricky unless you use flow controls (Which I Highly...

Re: Districts 2017

Drive time between Atlanta and Orlando is 6 1/2 hours.
Atlanta to Miami is 10ish.

While I agree that that is a long drive, I believe that it would create a very diverse district. And while I'd love...

Re: T-Shirt Cannon

I'll save my lecture about using plastic as a barrel for a later thread. ;)

Your pressure is not the issue. 110PSI is overkill. What your issue is ... is flow and reserve air.

Gas (in this case,...

I would love to see FL and SC join the GA district, making a large south east district.

Re: [YMTC]: Is robot debris still part of the robot?

Interesting interpretation of R26. I see your point as the detached part is no longer supported by the structure/frame.

Reading it that way, I agree with your interpretation and reverse my original...

Re: The Triple Tortuga is Contest born.

LOL. Yeah, just like that.

I do not believe that that video is a triple Tortuga because the third robot is just 'spinning in place'. But that "tent formation" is hilarious.

Re: [YMTC]: Is robot debris still part of the robot?

Please quote the rule that states that a fallen off bumper is no longer a bumper.

I believe that there is no scale point awarded if a portion of the bumper (even if detached from the robot) is not...
