Re: Dean's List Advice
How you dress probably isn't going to be the deciding but it could matter. I could definitely see some judges liking one candidate more because they were dressed very professionally. In something...

Re: Practice Robot?
This thread (https://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1573611) has some really great advice to make building the practice bot more manageable/efficient. I would give it a read if you guys...

Re: Five Person Drive team in 2017
Seems like a lot of stuff is pointing to the return of minibots. 5th drive team member is likely a driver for the minibot. Doesn't make too much sense to have 6 human players per alliance.

Re: Average score per match and cycle times
It all comes down to understanding your team and what you guys are capable of. The general rule that many successful teams follow is to be the best they can at one particular task instead of the...

Re: Scouting as an Aliiance Captain
Definitely scout as if you were going to be an alliance captain and make a pick list no matter what. Even if you don't end up being one, a pick list can be critical if you were picked by a team that...

Re: [FF]: 2017 Season Long Fantasy FIRST
Not playing this season but you basically need to be able to figure out some way to make a pick list of teams based on whatever categories you see fit for every event/district area. If only doing...

Re: Utilizing breaks between matches.
Something that is fairly simple to put together could also be a video package for each event showing matches of the event from previous years. If an event is new, maybe just have video from the...

Re: The Best Team(s) in need of an event win/
Definitely team 60 from Arizona! They have been a finalist 5 times in the last 4 years and haven't won the gold since 2011. It's honestly not a matter of if they will win again but when and I think...

Re: Robotics Teams/Competitions for Adults
AUVSI student competitions are really great and have a relatively cheap entree fee. The competitions are all pretty much autonomous and usually a week long and teams from all over the world compete....

Re: Reliability of Pixy Camera?
Agreed. We did basically the same and had a 100% auto shot accuracy at champs. We did use a higher resolution for more precise off center measurements but it was working almost as good with a lower...

Re: Most Competitive Events 2017
Going by just IRI probably isn't going to be very accurate since quite a fair bit of good teams don't attend. For us, if a team won a regional as a captain or first pick, they are on the "watch out"...

Re: Seven Rivers Regional/Lacrosse, WI
You can find the current list for regionals and districts on this site:

It's a little glitchy though and requires a lot of...

Re: Eliminating "Start Build Day"
I think the difference is that build time would simply extend into competition season when most teams are still fairly active whereas moving kickoff back would extend the FRC season entirely....

Re: Win-Loss, Average, RP?
I really liked 2016 in that it rewarded an alliance for performing very well regardless if they won or lost but still made wins and losses important to the rankings. Though it might be an unpopular...

Re: STEM vs. STEAM
I don't really care either way but one thing I do notice is that art is generally looked down upon at least by young people. All the unemployment or useless art degree jokes/memes are very common on...
