Re: Best looking robot ever?

Of course many extremely clean (mostly powder-coated) robots come to mind when I saw this thread... Particularly ones made by 254, 233, 148, 118, 33, etc. I definitely think there is a lot of "taste"...

Re: Basic Robot Kit

I think it'd be useful for those trying to help to understand:

1. What you're trying to build and/or what you're trying to learn from this pre-season project.

2. What you already have from your...

Re: 2017 - New England District Event Schedule

I don't want to make a particularly big deal of my VT comment in the context of this years' event schedule... it's not a real criticism of anyone, and not the NE District planning team(s). But I do...

Re: 2017 - New England District Event Schedule

Thank you for sharing!

This pretty much confirms three things:

1. CT teams are definitely getting the short end of the stick.
2. Greater Boston teams are definitely "winning out" with ~5-7 events...

Re: 2017 - New England District Event Schedule

Great to see the schedule released! As Chris said, thank you for all the volunteers who plan and schedule the events... it's not easy and takes a lot of time!

That said, I'd just like to raise a few...

Re: [FRC Blog]2017 Updates

I'm guessing there's nothing too special about the order of each round?

If not, by switching 3v4 and 6v1 within Round 2 and switching 6v2 and 4v1 within Round 4, you could avoid having a team ever...

Re: Idea to Balance Championship Divisions

I think this has merit and should lead to more balanced divisions... it's reasonably straightforward to implement and doesn't rely on rank or statistics that are subject to change each year.

The one...

Re: Discussion on All-Girl events

Thank you for linking Steven's post... I hadn't read it all, and I definitely think there's a lot of good stuff there. That said, it doesn't convince me of the benefit of affirmative action......

Re: Discussion on All-Girl events

I approve of 234 having a female-focused event to try to ensure that girls and women are getting fair chances to step into various roles... I hope all teams are putting talent first though for role...

Re: [TBA] The Blue Alliance 2016 Season Updates

I haven't been using TBA nearly as much lately, but I noticed this feature hadn't been implemented... not a big deal or anything, but I just figured I'd "bump" it.

Re: What teams have improved the most in the shortest amount of time?

1678 has to be the correct answer to this thread's question... "who has improved the most in the shortest amount of time?".

Until 2011 they had never made it out of the quarter-finals... at any...

Re: What teams have improved the most in the shortest amount of time?

This thread is an interesting one to me, as I like "the numbers" and love seeing or hearing the story behind the numbers... I hope to see it growing!

Really, every good team - whether just...

Re: pic: Shovel knight 2016

After having thought about it briefly, it looks like this snow shovel as an arm could actually be a useful manipulator... With reasonable control and a little care you could probably:

- Lift...

Re: [TBA] The Blue Alliance 2016 Season Updates

Re: Robowranglers 2016 Season Recap

Great team, robot, and video(s) as always!

I'm really intrigued by your frame this year... essentially a WCD, but with what looks like an entirely sheet metal frame. Will you be posting CAD of your...

Re: How many teams are supported by a Rotary club?

1519 also receives support from our local Rotary club. I believe we've been supported by the Milford Rotary every since our founding, and even back to 2003/2004 when we were an FLL team trying to...

Definitely a rough first portion of the match, but that alliance is the type...

Re: Hugs vs hand shakes at opening ceremony

This sounds like an opinion (albeit, slightly unpopular)... not something so controversial that you "need" a throwaway/burner account.

It seems like throwaway/burner accounts are becoming far too...

I didn't see the Dean's List Ceremony in-person or on the webcast... But I do find it troubling that Dean, Woodie, and Don would have greeted all the young men with handshakes and all the young women...

Re: Wisconsin District Rankings

I have no real involvement with how NEFIRST (or PNW, or MAR, or CHS) acquires funding, but this is the first time I've heard state-based grants as a reason to avoid districts across state lines. I'm...
