Re: Where to get two-pin connectors
Another vote for Hansen Hobbies. Team 95 has several Hansen Hobbies crimp sets floating around that we use to make custom cables of the right length.

Re: Shooting from opposite side of the field
It was reasonably precise, and very accurate in altitude, but was difficult with that robot's drive train (which started holonomic and got a tank-drive conversion at the last minute) to get the...

Re: Shooting from opposite side of the field
Based upon our experiences with FP-driven pinch rollers, yeah, I'd say 30-35 feet with consistency is reasonable.
Here's team 95's 2006 Aim High robot, Lilly (whose accuracy is better than it looks,...

Re: Behold the mighty wire tie!
A few years ago at Palmetto I helped the team next to us in the pits make a replacement bearing block out of nothing but zip ties. I should have taken a photo of that wonderful Macgyver job...

Re: Gathering mechanism????
Yup. Belts and rollers, driven by pulleys (supplied by New Hampshire Industries, aka NHpulleys.com, our host for several years).
That mechanism has served team 95 very, very well. Variants of...

Re: ball cannon???
After evaluating the ball, I'm pretty sure the pinch-roller mechanism that our team has used before is still viable, but there's definitely a lot less accuracy than in Aim High. I'll probably help...

Re: 80/20 chassis
I've been lobbying for my team to use 80/20 or other extrusion for a few years. We might use it this year, since (a) my employer uses a lot of it (we've literally built buildings and cleanroom...

Re: Simple C++ State Machine
Thanks for posting this. I've preached state machines to several local teams for quite a few years now, and this is one place where C++ really helps clean up implementation.

Re: How do the Shooters work?
I always love reading quotes like this, since Team 95's robot does exactly this, with quite a bit of margin:

Yes, we use six...

Re: How do the Shooters work?
Team 95's robot Zog used pneumatics as well, with a two-stage pneumatic cylinder arrangment and six valves to get all the flow we needed. I'll see if I can get a good pic of it. We liked it, since...

Re: Connecticut Regional
The team I mentor (Team 95) is going, but I've got too many work obligations, so I'll be cheering from here.

Re: Radio Problems
We've been seeing the same issues, and I'm suspecting the same problem (low/dead backup battery).
Training the driver and pit crew to always check the backup battery is very, very important... :)

Re: Timers and MPLab
It's relatively easy. Which version of the code are you using (Kevin's new code, or the 2007 default code)?
The basics are in http://www.ifirobotics.com/docs/timers_white_paper_2004-jan-14.pdf...

Re: Programming the last thing a robot does...
We've done this several times by implementing a timer (in EasyC, they provide an interface to the hardware timers, and in MPLab it's pretty easy to write your own timer routines).
For example,...

Re: New C18 3.0+ Compatible FRC Code
Just to make sure we didn't have odd problems like this, our code looked something like
void Read_Yaw(void) {
phi=Get_Gyro_Angle();
phi=phi%6283L; // Avoid unneccesary wraparound
}
