Re: New AndyMark Product Game Hint???

Nah, I was just referring to the wheel that looked very similar to the McMaster sure-grip wheels that were the topic of conversation at the time.

Re: SRX Encoder Breakout Options

The E4T is the encoder that the Toughbox Mini housing/output shaft is designed to use. I haven't had the issues with the connector that others have mentioned.

Re: New AndyMark Product Game Hint???

Man, what's the point of teaser videos if nobody looks closely at them. :yikes:

Re: what to use some of the vouchers for?

PRU14 for the regulator, PGU14 for the pressure gauges, and HVU14-2 for the dump valve is what I've ordered in the past.

Re: Belts 9mm or 15mm?

On the sourcing belt front, you have to remember that the GT2 and GT3 profiles are still patented by Gates, whereas the patent on HTD ran out so there's many, many more suppliers of HTD.

On load...

Re: pic: 4908 Prototype West Coast Drive

This is actually the rationale I've seen behind shifting with 3 CIMs. If you want a faster high gear, it's how you avoid tripping breakers (and/or brownout) if you end up in a situation where pushing...

Re: New AndyMark Product Game Hint???

Because of how overvalued minibots were, the top teams iterated on these until there was pretty substantial design convergence to the minibot you saw in the video. Very similar to the arms race of...

Re: Understanding WCP Drive Train Calculator

1. You're fine during acceleration; the motor is only stalled for an instant. You can see here from the 40A breaker datasheet that you can draw large amounts of currents for a short amount of time....

Re: Strength of Versaplanetary & PG-188

IMO, this is the best solution to your problem. Custom spur gearboxes are nice, but when you need a 100:1 or higher reduction it gets prohibitively big.

Re: FRC Gearboxes, Drive Train and motor combination recommendation

Are you looking for different powertrain options (number of motors, shifting vs no shifting, number and type of wheels) or different frame options? The AM14U3 is configurable; while there's the...

Re: paper: 4 CIM versus 6 CIM theoretical calculations

For those debating the merits of the 1:1 gearing, you might want to take a look at this thread.

To address the benefits of 4 CIM vs 6 CIM...

Re: NeveRest 60 in FRC

There was a laundry list of materials you were allowed to make minibots out of, quoted below.

Non-slip pad was literally anything marketed as non-slip pad.

Re: Versatile gearboxes for pre-season stocking up?

Agreed. I've also had much better luck with side mounting than face mounting, though the V2 seems to have a couple design changes to improve that.

Re: Senior Design Projects

Not FRC specifically, but it's quite common for competition teams to be a senior design project at Rose-Hulman. I'm working on the Shell EcoMarathon competition as mine, and I know that there at...

Re: Designing with sensors

I've done similar as well. works with even just a single slit across. Since it's more or less a rigid coupling, good practice would be to make a somewhat flexible mount so minimal side load is put on...

Re: Designing with sensors

Exactly like limit switches, but the non-contact nature makes them (IMO) much more reliable.

Re: Designing with sensors

US Digital MA3 for absolute encoders. You can also do a normal quadrature encoder and a secondary sensor for zeroing, we did this with WCP Hall Effect sensors on our 2015 elevator.

Re: Optimize your FIRST Choice Credits 8:30pm EST 12/5

I wouldn't even get the rookie bundle, personally. I'd focus on getting the components that are

b. Commonly used year-after-year

Electronics:

Re: AM14U3 chassis with mecanum wheels?

This is a configuration designed into the AM14U3. The AM14U3 has the relevant holes to bolt the Toughbox Micro in each corner (one of the bigger changes from the AM14U2 to the AM14U3). You should be...

Re: 775pro .5" Hex Output Shaft

SDP-SI has those pulleys.

Re: 775pro .5" Hex Output Shaft

WCP sells 32DP pinion gears with a press fit bore for 775 sized motors. SDP-SI also has 5mm HTD pulleys with a 5mm bore.

Re: Keeping #35 Chain Tight

My suggestion would be to calculate the exact center-to-center distance, then add 0.012".

If you do sliding blocks, (I wouldn't be too worried about the drivetrain drifting to one side as long as...

Re: Nonadrive Concept

The AM14U3 is significantly more versatile that one might assume. A slide drive shouldn't be too difficult with a couple TB Nanos and some extra inside rails.
