Agreeing with Pault, I'd recommend an actual structure in addition to a stop in the coding, like a bar or peg. Definitely make it durable, as it will take a lot of abuse from the force of the thrower.

Agreed. If you want to make a defensive bot, one way to go may be a taller profile, with something like a net to block/complicate shots.
