I've recently used mcmaster #2289T41 for a personal project. It's the 1/4" bore version, but the difference is a small plastic bushing that reduces the bore from 5/16" to 1/4". Here's a picture....

I recommend seeking out local car audio shops. Most will have a really nice high strand count silicone insulated wire that's just heaven to work with.

On 399's 2013 robot we sheared a 1/4-20 bolt that drove our disc feeder kicker mechanism at a robot demo, so we used velcro to hold zipties to hold a screw driver in its place...
