Re: Connector on Andymark Hall Effect Sensor

That's not what I want.

I want to not solder. I have breakout boards so I'd rather solder to that, but if I can find an IDC connector then I can just snap in a cable and be good

Re: Team 74 Stronghold 2016 Python Code Release

I notice you pass robot to a few of your components, but you never use it. Why was this? I imagine it was an idea that got taken out, but I could be wrong.

Pathfinder: A python robot path generator

The last two days I've been working on porting KHEngineering's SmoothPathPlanner (https://github.com/KHEngineering/SmoothPathPlanner) (written in java) to python. You can find it here...

Re: "Robots don't quit!"

From what I understand, a better message for the error would be "Robots shouldn't quit." It means the robot has stopped running, and basically the program has concluded. "Robots don't quit" means...

Re: Suggestions for moving from Labview to Java

It may be a good idea to post any advice you have on the public forum, that way if anyone else comes along with the same question they can learn as well.

Re: Suggestions for moving from Labview to Java

Yeah looking back now saying it has full support in FRC does really send a false message.

Because of this and reading other replies, since your programmers are all up and coming, I actually would...

Re: Suggestions for moving from Labview to Java

Since they have minimal background, your best bet would be to start them off with the very basics. If you're set on them using java, codecademy has a beginner course. Codecademy also has a python...

Re: Team 5895 Code Release for 2016

But what happens when the robot doesn't have a ball. On the field it might be good to always be intaking, but what about in the pit?

Re: Team 5895 Code Release for 2016

I like the state machines for teleop. Kind of similar to RobotPy's statefulAutonomous. Take a look at it here...

Continuous Feedback Sensor on CANTalon

Does anyone know if the CANTalon PID supports continuous feedback like the PIDController does?

Re: Number of people in the pits at CMP

I know there aren't rules but do any teams create a designated pit crew in order to keep clutter down? We sometimes have problems with too many people in the pits, and were wondering how other teams...

Number of people in the pits at CMP

Since there are a large number of teams at CMP, should we worry about limiting the number of team members allowed down in the pits, or is space not an issue (in the hallways for example when...

What is it with cameras this year?

I don't know if it's just the CHS district or not, but for some reason they've decided to move away from the standard full field view and cut to individual robots, often moving away right as...

Yeah we were going to do that. I'm just looking for any reason to not mount a third camera. Looks like I'm gonna have to though:(

Low Goal Vision-Tracking images?

Does anyone have images of the low goal from a robot's point of view? We want to try to track the hole for autonomous scoring.

Re: FIRST Stronghold Match Strategy

What seemed to work well for us is splitting up the alliance into scoring and breaching (meaning robots focus on one or the other, and not REALLY both). Now, if you don't have a strong breacher or...

Re: Predictions Week 3: Catapulting Upwards

I wouldn't say basically no one else. We were the only robot on the alliance. I was really surprised we won that match. If the other alliance had 3 instead of 2, I think we would've lost.

Re: USB MS Lifecam HD 3000 Exposure Issues

We had this problem (although the exposure change was going from 5-6). Our solution? Tape a polarized sunglass lens over the camera. Works like a dream.

Re: Drive forward to x inches

Kinda defeats the purpose of encoders though, doesn't it? Timed drive will do the same.
