Re: How do I CAD wires?

That last link with 1538's wiring, where do you buy those cable bus connectors that are on the CIM motors and speed controllers? I am about to order a ton of them.

Re: pic: FRC 2869 - 2016 Offseason bot

How did you guys get the motors and gearboxes in with that tubing in the way? It looks like it would take quite a while to replace anything should a motor go out or something similar.

Re: Does anyone have any tips to Cad and design your first FRC robot?

Here is webinar my coworker created. He made the frame in one go for a 6 wheel West Coast tank drive. All you need to do after that is download the gearboxes and motors you want to use from...

Re: How do I CAD wires?

This is honestly not something I would pursue during the season because you can simply leave the correct spacing in your design for the wires to pass through. This is going to increase your rebuild...

Re: 2017 NC District

The bus ride from Hillsborough to Houston was not fun in 2003. We keep adding NC teams to the list on Einstein but we have only ever had three teams ever make it and only one Einstein winner (435 in...

Re: Senior Design Projects

The NASA Lunabotics Competition (now martian) is one of the closest experiences to FRC I could find in a senior project. Lunar mining is not easy, and full autonomy is even harder. I competed with...

Re: F4 - 2nd Bi-Annual CADathon

I like that you are using GrabCAD this time around to circumvent the long load and wait times. I will shoot this over to my students to see if they want to try round 2. Make sure you post or send...

Re: Do you use 3d printed mounts?

I have some parts from the Mark I and Mark II on my desk and they are nearly indestructible unless you twist them heavily, heat them up, or use some other process to de-laminate the layers. I have...

Re: pic: Playing With Camera Settings (Photoview 360)

I am looking into this now to see if I can get Visualize on a student license since it did NOT come with our 2016 software key. If it will let you use a seat of Visualize Boost then these renderings...

Re: Strange Swerve 4.0 Triple Strange 1533

This looks pretty compact and quite a bit easier to repair compared to what you had on the last robot. What was the overall weight of the last system minus the tank treads and whatnot?

What kind of...

Re: What hath we wrought? 2016 Horror Stories

It is not the first time I have seen a robot charge into a wall but it is the first time I have seen a robot bust through. I remember the days before they put velcro on the driver stations and...

Re: What hath we wrought? 2016 Horror Stories

Where was that video from this season of the robot at a scrimmage blasting down the field wall and going into a crowd? That looked pretty intense too. Nobody got hurt thanks to some nice dodging...

Re: North Carolina Teams: MiniFRC is back!

This looks like a blast! I will check to see if any Charlotte teams want to participate.

How many teams did you have in June and how many are registered?

Re: pic: Playing With Camera Settings (Photoview 360)

Since 2016 is up for students and this product is out with the software, I hope to see some teams using SOLIDWORKS Visualize (formerly BunkSpeed) if it is available to them. You can add motion to...

Re: Aug Reality CAD Scouting?

Augmented reality using the eDrawings app on your smartphone will let you load your CAD model of your robot and project it using a QR code. I havent tried this for FRC but my clients love it when...

Re: What hath we wrought? 2016 Horror Stories

Re: Build Spaces?

In the case of QCRA like I mentioned above, we are in an old airport warehouse. Finding industrial space is great for us because we are a community based non-profit and not tied to any school...

Re: What hath we wrought? 2016 Horror Stories

Yeah I think you witnessed us smoking after the match. Asheville was not kind to us. Our climber gearbox decided it was done after about 60 climbs so we used our backup from then until Champs. ...

Re: Best looking robot ever?

It is so hard to qualify which robot for me is the best looking ever, but year after year this team collectively builds some of the most striking machines.

I think Recoil from team 118 and all of...

Re: Best looking robot ever?

Apologies if that was taken as a negative remark, that was supposed to say that this robot is gorgeous then or now, and even more impressive because it was 2002. Our robot in 2002 came onto the field...

Re: Best looking robot ever?

Without the spinning dome light I almost wouldn't have believed that was from 2002! I only ever saw that robot from far away but it is exceptionally beautiful for that era!

Re: Achieving Consistency

A lot of the things I have to say have been said but I can add a few. Most people overlook a couple of things such as combining designs to simplify your robot design. A lot of people this year...

I had something very similar to this I shared with the team but it also included goals, field topography, and other game elements besides the scoring pieces. There is a certain trend the games all...
