Re: Battery monitoring in NXT

if you're using leJOS, theres also a lookup for battery voltage and you can work out a simple table of Voltage against RPM.

Re: VEX Radio Range & Loss of Radio Fail Safe?

I was using the latest WPILib. Yes, it does run away when you off the controller with controls moving the bot forward. The last received values are still stored. Hence there is no failsafe. WPI...

Re: pic: New Motor Controller at NI Week

wow anyone has more info on these? Looks lean and mean :ahh:

Particularly like the circular arrangement of mosfets.

Re: Victor logistics.

VNH2SP30 - 30A, surface mount only
BTS7960B - 60A half bridge

Personally would prefer the BTS7960 as two of them make a full bridge and I can directly drive them using the 2-phase PWM output of the...

Re: Need help with PWM 1-2ms pulse control

If you're driving a victor from this, I don't think you need to worry about deadband. The victor has quite abit of deadband around the 127 region.

As for a servo.. well it may jitter around (not so...

Re: Need help with PWM 1-2ms pulse control

on the software side, heres my take.

I read that you want to map the analog pot directly to the pwm out right, so heres what I'd do:

pwm01 = Get_Analog_Value(rc_ana_in01) >> 2;

Now for the...

Re: Victor logistics.

Are you using the Arduino? The uC on it should have a hardware based PWM generator suitable for driving H-Bridges.. try reading the datasheet :)

Do share with us what MOSFET you are trying out and...

Re: Victor logistics.

One of the larger problems would be to actually choose the right MOSFETs and drive them correctly. I did a bit of intensive reading and found two things

1. high side mosfets (near to +ve) and low...

Re: NEW 2009 Control System Released

Not forgetting the undocumented TTL serial port on the circuit board. More possibilities there! Could do some justice to the Vex system

Re: NEW 2009 Control System Released

I guess its a matter of choice one has to make, depending on their financial capabilities in using VxWorks or climbing the uphill task.

For those familiar with Linux, probably wouldn't mind taking a...

Re: The Access Points on the 2009 Control System

Hmm my take on this:

1. use smarter nodes for APs. Like those USD$30 fon/meraki devices.
Allows encryption, filtering, etc. We certainly do not want rogue data interrupting the matches.

2. UDP for...

Re: NEW 2009 Control System Released

Not sure when I'd be able to get my hands on a cRIO but here are some suggestions based on what ive read here:

1. smaller AP. I think Fons and Merakis are small and have much lower power draw. They...

Re: CVT Transmissions

With the vex differential gears and 2 motors, you can have one motor drive the outer gear and another driving one of the left or right axles.

The only thing I'm wondering is, unlike those CVT (e.g....

Re: Purchasing the 2009 controller

If I'm not mistaken, with the FPGA itself you can do quite a bit of fancy action-reaction or even PID loops

ADC / encoder -> FPGA ->PWM

How configurable the cRIO is I'm not sure, being here in...

I think the lookup table as JimWright949 suggested is the right way to go. You could put the values in an Excel sheet and tweak it until it gives you the graph you want, and then put it back into...

Re: Radio Boost/Range Extender?

For starters you may want to look into changing the wireless link into a 802.11x based system. That way you can legally use YAGIs or omnis and and higher power units.

I'm not clear if you are...
