Re: 3360 robot reveal, Manticore
Elegant is the best word I've seen to describe this machine. The high release on the catapult, the ease of crossing the drawbridge, and the shortened climbing mechanism all blew me away.
Great job!

Let's please back off the interviewer a bit. She's volunteering her time just like many of the people who are at the venue doing their best to make this an enjoyable event for all involved. I could...

Re: Nerf Co-op and Litter
Hjelstrom, I think you hit the nail on the head. In week 1, it was exciting to see opposing alliances working together at the coopertition bridge communicating ever so subtly through minute movements...

Re: Bimba Cylinder question
You can search for a Parker store near your area. I was surprised that there were several within a few miles of my team. The staff was helpful and we were able to find everything we needed.

Re: Awards and How they Are Chosen
Great point by Al. Website, Safety, and Autodesk (if that still exists... I can't remember) are all judged separately. This is, of course in addition to the Regional Winner, Finalist, and Highest...

Re: Awards and How they Are Chosen
As a former judge of 3 years, I can shed a little light on the topic.
First, different regions handle the issue differently, however, I believe all judging teams try to balance "sharing the wealth"...

Re: pic: MOE 365 2012 Robot -
Year after year, I am constantly amazed with how MOE can design and manufacture an extremely competent machine that could easily make its way into an art museum. Truly beautiful machine. I can't wait...

Re: Basketball Traditions at FIRST Events
This may have already been suggested, and if so, I apologize.
How about we let the Chairman's Award winning team cut down a net. After all, that's what this competition is all about.
... Just a...

Re: Basketball Traditions at FIRST Events
If anyone is really considering doing this, I suggest buying a net and bringing it to the Regional Field Supervisor. I would offer to install it after the award ceremony if a team wanted to cut it...

Re: Team 340- 2012 Robot
That is amazing. I didn't originally think that this could be a winning approach, but you've done it so well that I am rethinking everything I thought I knew about this game. Phenomenal job. I'd say...

Re: Crate Swap - Bayou Regional
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding.
If a rookie team qualifies for the championship, they have to ship the machine from the regional location straight to championship. Correct?
If I'm wrong, and the team...

Re: Crate Swap - Bayou Regional
Thank you for your critique. The idea is not perfect, but I feel it still has merit.
I like to see it as some sort of insurance. At Bayou, 14 rookie teams would have to build a crate, where only a...

Crate Swap - Bayou Regional
As one of the 14 rookie teams attending the Bayou Regional, the Tiger Bytes (4209) have a small chance of qualifying for the championship. Like many rookie teams, we are still trying hard to grow...

Re: banebot smoke
The quickest way to generate heat on those motors is to run them at a stall. Are you using the motors to hold an arm steady while a force is applied? If so, you are stalling the motors.
If your...

Re: Rookie FRC Team 4209 TigerBytes Week 5 Update
I have to take another look at the rules, but our front bumper pieces overlap the sides givi us roughly 3 1/2" of overlap plus about 6" of front support.
I'm asking because I'm not a bumper expert,...

Re: Rookie FRC Team 4209 TigerBytes Week 5 Update
Thank you all for the suggestions. We don't yet have an accurate weight, but we believe we have some room to spare. If we confirm this, we should be able to at least add the extra wheels.
What is...

Re: Rookie Team 4209 TigerBytes 2012 Teaser #1
I had no idea that our name was already taken. Due to LSU's support and the fact that they work very closely with University High, we decided to put a spin on a very common LSU Tiger chant - "Tiger...
