Go to Post Engineering fundamentally comes down to problem solving, and if the students can't get excited and inspired by the problem solving process because someone has spoon fed them a solution, then nobody wins. Re: Mecanum Wheels

Mecanums are more trouble than they are worth. Getting a robot to 120 lbs is a challenge for most teams, let alone balancing that load for the mecanums to function properly. I would tell a team to...

Re: Bumpers

While bumpers are not "required", many teams will likely make something similar past bumpers for their own protection in an hectic environment.

Re: Recommendations for self-adjusting wire stripper

JackStack makes a spicy sauce, it's usually hard to find in store. They have it there in restaurant.

Did you try the vlc route? I'm not sure where your issue might be.

Re: 2014 Greater Kansas City Regional

Good luck to all the teams in KC this weekend. Wish I could make it, but I have too many tests this next week.

Also to open the stream in VLC instead of your browser: Media->Open Network Stream and...

Re: 7/16-28 Bolt or Threaded Rod

Try calling them, if you looked on their website. Sometimes they have it somewhere, just not on their site.

Pretty much any compressor that fits that criteria.

Re: Team Driven 1730 Reveal

The sideways oriented shooter was inherent in this design. This design came as it's own concept as a whole robot instead of the typical sub-systems due to the nature of this concept.

Re: Wireless DAP 1522 configuration

Got to Dlink's website and download version 2.03, update the Dlink. We figured this out yesterday at our quick build that our regional does for the teams who need assistance in our area.

Re: Championship 2014 Proposal

No hockey arena would work due to the possibility of the Stanley Cup playoffs (St. Louis was playing L.A. not to far from the Edward Jones Dome while the championships were wrapping up). This is why...

Re: Best bridge manipulators/balancing mechanisms?

One of my favorites would have to be 2056's manipulator/ball gatherer. It was used in unexpected ways when they would shove it under the bridge to aid the balance.

Some people have mentioned 1730's...

Re: 987 Implementation of Kinect on robot

Thanks, big fan of your guy's robot. Amazing job all around. Watched all the Curie eliminations and you guys just kept putting on a show. Again, great job on the robot.

Re: FIRST and Google - Alumni

There's some person in charge of the main Google page specifically at Google. They def. need to do it. Having that person on board would help.

987 Implementation of Kinect on robot

I know personally, I would like to know how 987 implemented the Kinect on their robot. From what I've seen it's far superior to the traditional camera. I wanted to know how it was connected, where...

Re: Severe Weather Precautions in STL

We were on the ending edge of the tornado warning, they removed people from the upper-deck from what I heard. Saying tornado warning in a stadium like that would be like the same as yelling fire,...

Re: FIRST's statement on Einstein

My disappointment in the situation is that the alliances were not able to perform to their full potential. Curie had a really intense finals, great teams on both sides, and I didn't notice connection...

Re: The communication tides are shifting...

Not sure how your team is doing vision processing... Most teams use the laptop for that to not reduce robot performance... Also, there was vision processing before the C-RIO. Look at Rack 'n Roll...

Re: Severe Weather Precautions in STL

Re: Einstein 2012

That entire sequence of events that occurred on Einstein was hard to watch as a FIRST alumnus. I know myself and several other alumni were very disappoint.
