Re: Registration 2017

Victoria Park simply got moved to the top of the district event listing. Sometimes the order of events on FIRST's page is a little scrambled, and my page only reflects that.

Edit: it's back in its...

Re: Registration 2017

Looks like the Toluca Regional is simply the Mexico City Regional, now with the date and venue nailed down, taking place in Toluca in the vicinity of Mexico City.

Re: Optimization, when to stop

Sometimes we have to forgive the theoretically minded for exploring the realm of possibilities.

In your situation, your argument makes sense. But what I think Ether was after is that OPR can be...

Re: Registration 2017

Are 6238 to 6242 perhaps teams who registered and received rookie team numbers last year, but did not compete? 6237 is a 2016 rookie.

District event registration opened today at noon. Public facing APIs and database queries were disabled until now, it seems that they are all up again. ...

Re: Registration 2017

Everything looks to be back up. No teams registered. Still waiting on the date and time for next week to be announced (I'd assume 9/29 at noon EDT).

Re: Hex Turning - Runout Question

Shouldn't this be just as good as the runout from turning anything else while held in a 3 jaw chuck? If the chuck is not holding the part concentric, the turned diameter won't be concentric,...

Re: [FRC Blog] FRC Events Being Posted and AMAA on FUN

Kudos to the La Crosse folks for this new event! Should be very nice for everyone in the area looking for spots. Even though Week 7 is very close to Champs, at least it helps prevent a collision...

Re: Math Quiz 9

How practical of you ;)

I'd like to think it's possible to parametrize the choice of line segment by end points. Curious about the difference between that and the problem (simply choosing...

Re: Math Quiz 9

It's hard to disagree with your first figure.

If you can switch the order of integration and then integrate the pdf over theta, then you should have a pdf for L only. I'm trying to wrap my head...

Re: pic: low profile 3 CIM gearbox

You have a cycle in your gear mesh that will not be guaranteed to have full contact all around. There is even the possibility that teeth won't line up and the gearbox will bind, but with your tooth...

Re: [FRC Blog] FRC Events Being Posted and AMAA on FUN

I think it's important to look at the proportions rather than the raw numbers. The map shows MN in a far brighter red than any other state, while it actually has a comparable proportion of its teams...

Re: [FRC Blog] FRC Events Being Posted and AMAA on FUN

Wouldn't you need to register for FLR long before your district ranking becomes possible to predict?

Re: [FRC Blog] FRC Events Being Posted and AMAA on FUN

Btw, PNW is still at nine events as they have been since they first released their dates. MAR at seven, both the same as last year.

Northern Lights was added about a day before Orlando and MAR.

Re: Where do I ask for unicorns, I mean changes to the official stats?

OPR estimates a team's own contribution, minimizes the residual in match scores, and relates to the point totals on TBA by a linear transformation. But not quite the same thing.

FIRST regularly...

Re: Math Quiz 9

FTFY. When discussing cardinality, distinction between aleph-0 and aleph-1 is key. The integers (aleph-0) have measure 0 in the real line (aleph-1), so any "proportion" there would be 0.

Rather,...

Re: Math Quiz 9

Precisely ln(1+sqrt(2))/3 + sqrt(2)/15 + 2/15

Or approximately 0.52140543316
Rounded to 8 digits: 0.52140543
Rounded to 5 digits: 0.52141

A fun exercise in every integration tool I've ever learned,...
