Re: Team 548 Einstein Statement

Lack of grammar is not the only way something can be poorly written. It's poorly written because it is not explicitly clear who is being referred to. Not explicit enough for the circumstances.

It...

Re: Team 548 Einstein Statement

This is poorly written and a less than ideal admission of guilt.

Who is 'they'?

Re: Terrible Volunteer Experience

I have explained how. From a pure physical logistics standpoint, as if we were dealing with automatons, it is not difficult to move one person with a non-critical task with no learning curve to...

Re: Terrible Volunteer Experience

To reassign someone 'in a heartbeat' based on a few or several complaints is not a good way to run an operation which relies heavily on volunteers. You are coming off as someone who wasn't happy...

Re: Terrible Volunteer Experience

Jon Stratis put this very well.

The only thing I will add is that rarely will there be a solution that provides the 'instant gratification' you might be seeking after an incident like this...

Re: Field Crew Bragging Rights

Oddly similar stats for two regionals of which I was part of the field crew!

Re: Field Crew Bragging Rights

Does anyone have updated data to include last week?

Thanks Mark for compiling the list and thanks to crew at SBPLI for making it my favorite regional to work year after year!

2010 SBPLI Regional (Hempstead, NY)

Hello everyone. I didn't see a thread for this regional. I'm the field supervisor for the regional and I volunteered as a referee at the NYC regional. While packing up the field and all the...

Re: Charging for Parking at Regionals.

It is not practical to give some people a free pass for parking at FIRST event, and I think it would be impossible to do fairly.

Most importantly almost everyone who is there is some kind of...

Re: Charging for Parking at Regionals.

There was no cost for parking at SBPLI. As a volunteer, I don't think I'd have liked the idea of having to pay to park, but I probably would have anyway. Some of these numbers people are mentioning...

Re: Making Suggestions to Regional Committees

It is a good idea to contact your regional's planning people, but I do think discussion on these forums can help too - someone else might have a better idea or information on why something is the way...

Re: Just Disgusting

I'd like to think in general a FIRST audience would leave less a mess than a general audience. At SBPLI, I was able to compare the mess (or relative lack) left by the regional with a basketball game...

Recycling At Regionals (bottles, cans, paper)

Hi,

I'm pretty new to these forums. I've volunteered at a few regionals, this year, SBPLI, for the 2nd time, and Philadelphia last year. I am curious if other regionals have bins for recycling...

Re: Quick question about the website comp.

There is a comment box where judges have the opportunity to leave comments. I left some pretty lengthly comments for most sites that I reviewed, but I don't know who gets to see them other than the...

Re: what browser do the judges use.

I was a website judge for the SBPLI regional this weekend and I primarily use Firefox. I did break down and used IE for a few sites when it was clear they were not being displayed correctly.
