Re: Mentoring New Team

In that case, I'm sure it will be little trouble at all to extend a hand if you need it :D

I'll make sure to stop by your pit at Rhode Island.

Re: Mentoring New Team

Patrick,

While I can't help you out much with direct advice, I do know a few of our mentors (before my time) were thrust into a similar situation. I can refer to them if it would be...

Is this (https://firstmap.github.io/) what you're referring to?

Re: Does anyone have any tips to Cad and design your first FRC robot?

I actually have similar questions to the OP. This past year, my team did very little CAD, save for one part machined by a sponsor. For that reason I've been trying to learn Inventor since the summer....

Re: Minimum age for FRC?

We accept students as early as 6th grade, but for grades 6 and 7 we usually require significant parent involvement. Grade 8 gets a bit more responsibility, and drive team is strictly high school (I...

Re: Fancy RGBish lights on robot/cart/etc

My team used these LEDs (https://www.amazon.com/LEDwholesalers-Color-Changing-2034RGB-R2-3369-3208/dp/B0040FJ27S) on our 2015 robot. All the lights stay one color at a time. You can get a few basic...

Re: Team Communication Platforms

Up until this recent offseason, my team used Groupspaces (a mass email service). We've recently jumped ship to Groupme, which seems to be pretty well received overall.

Re: Robot Teams and Gaming

Honestly, this team is the reason I even play LoL, let alone as often as I do. Our 2015 robot was Rumble themed.

Re: Team fee survey

To contribute toward rent for our space and register under the 4H program costs each member about $150 a year, usually paid right before/during build season.

Is there a link to the actual slideshow? It's a bit difficult to see.

Reintroducing this thread (https://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1606683#post1606683) for the neighbor bit.

I don't know why that is, but I sure do hope 125 is going to the Greater Boston event or else I have several questions

Re: FIRST website is an embarasment

I've noticed that the zip code and town for my team are different. The town is our physical location, but the zip code is for a town with the school we used to be affiliated with. While not a huge...

Are there still spots open, or has the team list on the website not been updated? I only see 25 registered teams.

Re: FIRST Newspaper/Blog Idea

Shows how much I pay attention, huh?

Now that you mention, I do look at NEforecast from time to time. To add some suggestions, it'd be nice to have some sort of wrap up after events, so we can see...

Re: FIRST Newspaper/Blog Idea

I'd appreciate something more split up by event/district/group of regionals/etc, or even highlighting specific teams once in a while, a bit more in depth than what currently exists.

Re: Eliminating "Start Build Day"

I'm not quite clear on what "eliminating" Kickoff entails, unless it is supposed to mean moving it earlier in the year.

I may very well be misunderstanding your point here, but isn't it that, in...

Re: FIRST video ideas?

It's more of an in season thing, but I'm partial to team documentary videos. They don't have to be RoboLeague level quality (https://vimeo.com/139506546), but it's nice to be able to see what goes on...

Re: Eliminating "Start Build Day"

At this point, I feel like FRC has settled into its current time frame. Any earlier and you run into winter break. Any later and you risk making venue scheduling even worse, as well as encroaching...

Re: Robot Build Log

I think something like this would be incredibly useful. All the features you describe sound good to have on one page so teams can add whatever they choose.

I might also add a spot for "quick...
