Re: Cookie cutter game design

While the games can be seen to follow a trend, this isn't necessarily a bad thing.

The team I was on in high school would always try to do every part of the game possible, and while it's a nice...

Re: Most Competitive Events 2017

I would say most competitive would have to be the most fairly balanced regional. I've attended many different regionals where there's a couple good robots that can dominate. Last year NYC regional...

Re: [FRC Blog] Control System Update

The only problem i have with these routers, is they only have 2 ports. When at competition we couldn't tether in and view the camera at the same time. One port had tether and the other has the rio...

Re: 2017 New York Regionals

I am not sure how true this is with SBPLI running two events. As it stands they are barely running as an organization last I checked. (albeit a few years have passed since I was heavily involved with...

Re: 2017 New York Regionals

If NY does go to districts I feel upstate has no problem getting in multiple events. RIT, RPI, Syracuse, can easily have small events pop up. Depending on size even SUNY Poly would consider hosting...

Re: (Seemingly) Irrational alliance selection decisions?

I think a combination of things helped.
Modified the shooter a bit, but more being confident in our own strategy.
When we went into eliminations for NYC we used our strategies which worked well in...

Re: (Seemingly) Irrational alliance selection decisions?

Oh I know, I've been to the NYC regional for 12,13,and now 16
2013, we were sure we wouldn't get picked and somehow we went to the semis, losing the first match due to field error and the second by a...

Re: (Seemingly) Irrational alliance selection decisions?

I would like to build upon this with the NYC Regional.
By the end of the first day we won all but 2 matches, the first being us and another robot having technical problem.(which we found out was...

Re: [FRC Blog] FRC Events Being Posted and AMAA on FUN

I mean who doesn't want a match between the Pittsburgh, TVR and FLR winners. Plus we don't even need to worry about packing for a second event. Everything will be packed from FLR.

Re: [FRC Blog] FRC Events Being Posted and AMAA on FUN

I have a big feeling TVR and FLR are going to get flooded with a lot of Canadian teams. I look forward to it, as it helps provide diversity and bring in all sorts of new levels of competition. With...

Re: [FRC Blog] 2017 FIRST Championships Allocations for Districts

Could it also be your team has turned down a waitlist spot?
I know some teams where every other year they got to champs on waitlist, and last year they even declined the spot because they said it...

Re: [FRC Blog] FRC Events Being Posted and AMAA on FUN

The Armory is an amazing venue, I have had many track meets there. My question is if memory serves, can they actually fit a lot of teams in there.

Re: Best Event Giveaways

The NYC Regional has always had some cool stuff given away. For ultimate Ascent I got some of the foldable "frisbees"( not sure if they are classified as actual frisbees or just flying fabric.)

Con...

Re: [FRC Blog] FRC Events Being Posted and AMAA on FUN

They booked up quick, I know with recycle rush we didn't apply until about a week before Tech Valley. I had gotten an email saying there were still spots left and I...

Re: 2016 Chairman's Hall of Fame Predictions

The turkish team that won it at NYC really did alot of amazing things. It is annoying that its slipping my mind right now. But they did alot involving refugees and do alot to spread stem.

Re: [2016] Chairman's Preview Week 5

What I have heard is that Long Island tries to not let a team win it twice in a 5 year span. That's just what I heard, i'm not sure of the validity of that statement.
