Re: pic: 4143 differential swerve concept

There would be not a differential, just two cantilevered wheels. All the comments so far are spot on. A higher friction pivot bearing would help. You would probably want 3 encoders, but maybe just...

Re: Definitive Guide to Using the Jetson TK1/TX1?

I just did this a couple of months ago. Next time we'll try to document it better.

You need a system running Ubuntu 14.04 to install the Jetpack on. A vm might work but I haven't tried it. I did...

Re: 30fps Vision Tracking on the RoboRIO without Coprocessor

Have you looked at how much overhead comes from getting 30fps from a USB camera?

Also findContours() should run faster on non-random data.

Re: Placing motor controllers on moving components?

We ran 12 srx talons on a bus with four 1' stubs. We did have some can bus errors. The errors didn't affect anything. We also tested with the bus running through 4 slip rings. It worked but we...

Re: GRIP on NVIDIA Jetson TK1

And then after that look at https://github.com/FRC-Team-4143/vision-stronghold for one working example of a TK1 and a lifecam HD-3000.

Re: Championship Waitlist

The random number generator seems stuck on local STL teams. I wonder what the defining radius is.

Re: How fast was your vision processing?

We used the Nvidia TK1. We used c++ and opencv with cuda gpu support. The actual algorithm was very similar to the samples from GRIP. Everything up to findContours() was pushed to the gpu. It would...

Re: Talon SRX magnetic encoder issues

Moving the loop to the RoboRIO would allow you to just use the above mentioned decimal portion of the encoder position.

Re: Talon SRX magnetic encoder issues

Check for CAN bus errors in the driver station logs when you notice this happening. I may have noticed something similar, but it didn't affect our design so we didn't looked into it very hard.

Also...

Re: Searching For Swerve / Holonomic Drive Idea

I thought this would make a good bot:

Re: problems with camera feeds at CIR

We also switched to static IPs at the event. We used mjpgstreamer on the Nvidia TK1 on port 5801. We had a small Chrome window connecting to the static IP of the Jetson. Something like...

Re: NVIDIA Jetson TX1

Using a supercapacitor would be in a grey area of R31 and R32 in my book. It's probably not a "battery". But it might be a "source of electrical energy". You wouldn't have a COTS exemption.

EDIT: If...

Re: NVIDIA Jetson TX1

Which change did you do? Disable the circuit or change the capacitors?

I think we are just going to stick with the tk1 this year.

Re: Team Update 15 (2016)

My thoughts of 4mm thick heavy plastic strips getting raked over the inside of bot, swatting the cameras twice a cycle, are getting worse or worse. If they are stiff enough, they'll form a robot...

Sorry, that would have worked for c++ or java. We haven't used labview in a few years. My bad.

Looking forward to seeing your bot at CIR.

Re: Team 4143 Sir Twerve'alot 2016

We tested sliprings. The CAN bus functioned without issue through 4 sliprings. We removed them because the 12 (6 on each side) stiff 12 gauge wires were a mess. They may go back on the bot, but it...

Re: VersaPlanetary Failures

It has been suggested to tack weld the pins in a TIG torch. Then file back smooth. The darker colored carrier plates become grease impregnated, so you end up burning that out.

We've done this to...
