Re: Team 254 Presents: Dropshot Technical Binder 2016

How is the drive gearbox attached to the chassis frame?

Re: Electrical connectors on control system items

I'd love a self crimping .1in connector, also possibly a latching .1in connector.

Anderson Powerpoles are a gift from god if you asked me. Nothing should replace them.

Re: Team 254 Presents: Dropshot Technical Binder 2016

Are CADs for Dropshot available anywhere?

Re: Team 254 Presents: Dropshot Technical Binder 2016

Why did you decide to go with #35 chain this year, instead of the usual #25?

Why did you use a servo in place of the pistons you used in 2014? I'm guessing it was for theoretically infinite hood...

Re: Team 254 Presents: Dropshot Technical Binder 2016

I meant to say two CIMs per side, four total. Why not use six?

Re: Team 254 Presents: Dropshot Technical Binder 2016

What do you use as a thrust bearing for your turret? Also, why do you only use two CIMs in your drive? You need moar pushes

Re: The negative effects of FRC

The lunch thing is huge. Every competition I've been to in my 3 years, I've been in the pits nearly the entire time. I'm the drive train operator, so I am constantly in-between running the robot and...

Re: Hex Kiwi Drive

With this model, the battery is the back of the drive, the point opposite it is the front. flMotor would be the motor on the left side, closest the point opposite the battery.

Psuedocode:

if...

Re: Hex Kiwi Drive

I should have added the pseudo to the original post, but this guy did it just how I did. The only difference is I would have field orientation, so it could have any part of the robot set as forward.

Re: Hex Kiwi Drive

I was mostly joking when I said it's a 6WD. Obviously, the only real similarity is the number of wheels. Where did you get the information about omnis being less grippy? I'm not doubting it at all, I...

Re: Hex Kiwi Drive

To counter that argument, look at like 90% of the robotics this year, 6WD. This is just a fancy 6WD if you think about it

Re: Hex Kiwi Drive

Hex kiwi could be really good 2014, or any flat field really, because it can be so fast and maneuverable

Re: Hex Kiwi Drive

My original version of the cad actually used the vex clamping gearboxes. My team has had problems with motors sagging down, so I went on to make the motors lower, with cutouts in the bottom plate....

Re: Hex Kiwi Drive

I was thinking the same thing about the bumpers.

For the omnis, shouldn't coefficient of friction be high in the direction of the wheel? The added pressure from the sides of the rollers should help,...

Hex Kiwi Drive

Over the past few weeks, I have been working on a hex kiwi drive train. It is a six-sided drive, with an omni wheel on each side. This allows for nearly identical speed and pushing power in every...

Re: What's the gender demographic of your team leadership?

3324 used to be majority female, but since our women in engineering workshops, that has begun to change. In the 2015-2016 school year, our team of ~65 students had about 2/3 females. Over 75% of our...

VersaDrop Stability

A few people on my team have been looking into drive train designs, and we are currently curious about Octocanum. If your team has used octocanum, have you designed the parts on your own, or did you...

Re: Swerve vs Wheeled Tank

I've never understood why teams prefer WCD over wheels with outside support. Could you explain the benefit of WCD over supporting the shaft? Thanks

Re: Video Review Needs to Happen Now

I have had experience with refs making the wrong call, effecting the winner of the match in 2014. I was driving for 3324, the Metrobots, in the semi-finals against 16. In the first match, 16 won, but...
