Re: Electrical connectors on control system items
I personally prefer powerpoles over both the Dean's and XT connectors. You have to have a proper crimper for them, but once you do, they are pretty hard to mess up. Our electrical students use them...

Re: pic: What's wrong with this score?
If my math is correct, Red Robot A starts in the neutral zone and gets a reach in autonomous, but breaks down. Red Robot B starts in the spy box, scores 8 high goals and 1 low goal (boulders would...

Re: Withholding Allowance
So when the GDC and the CRI disagree, who wins? Q&A 823 seems to indicate that terminated motors must be included in your withholding allowance:

Re: Legality of third party fans
This is exactly my point. If an experienced LRI's method of enforcement is " it looks like one of the fans that's stacked up in my team's electrical closet", what is an average inspector's(aka me)...

Re: Legality of third party fans
This rule bothers me. DC powered "computer" fans are pretty ubiquitous, using a different brand/model isn't going to give you a competitive advantage. On top of that, it's borderline unenforceable....

The assembly drawings for that bracket are available here: link (http://files.andymark.com/Camera-Pan-Tilt-Assembly.pdf). I had to install a flash plugin in order to get it to open properly, though....

Re: Longer Talon SRX Data Cables
We just used a mini vice with flat jaws. The connectors have grooves for the wires, so it was pretty easy to get things aligned properly and crimped.

Re: Longer Talon SRX Data Cables
We made our own ribbon cables with this cable (https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/3756%2F10%20100/ME10G-100-ND/3867658) and these connectors...

Re: Question about Anderson PowerPoles
Could you post a link to which particular powerpoles you purchased? There are a couple of different product lines with the powerpole name, and it would help to know exactly what we are looking at.

Re: Window-wiper motion
Actually, the servo rules this year are much more open than in previous years. It still wouldn't be the best choice to drive an arm with, though.

Re: Linear Servo Actuator Legality
Um, those don't look like any servo I've ever seen. They look like a small, dc motor powered linear actuator (the description even states they run off of a PMDC motor). Unless the motor in them is...

Re: How the 15 inches is measured
An arm extending outside the frame perimeter is usually measured by your inspector during inspection. They will typically ask you to extend it to it's longest position and measure it there. If your...

Re: AM14U3 Opening kit bumpers question!
As far as bumper rules are concerned, the front of the robot in the Andymark link is 1 side. The fact that there is a cutout in it doesn't matter, so you still need 8 inches of bumper on each side...

Re: LINEAR ACTUATORS
The rules for 2016 aren't out yet, so we can't say for sure. However, based on the rules from previous years, you would have to replace the motor on those actuators with one that is in the legal...

Except in the case of CTRE's testing they were using power resistors instead of a motor (so no motor inductance), and commanding each motor controller to 100%. In that case, power output should...

Re: where do you source your power wire
We use zip cord (black and red wires molded together) for most of our wiring. Powerwerx, MCM electronics, and McMaster all sell it, but MCM is usually the cheapest.
