Re: What will FRC 2016 Stronghold be remembered by?

I thought #tsimfd was funny, but that's not what I'm remembering this year for. I'm remembering it for our team's final qualification match - wherein we flipped our robot over, but STILL GOT THE...

Re: Switching between two webcams on the dashboard

Glad you guys got it all working! Just a piece of advice from a former driver, though – you will probably not be looking at your driver station laptop nearly as much as you think you will....

Re: Difference between Scoring and Passing

You really owe it to yourself (and to every team you will ever play with) to read the manual in full...

If you did, you would have encountered rule G40, which governs moving Boulders down the field....

Re: Support Bots?

I think that robots will definitely be playing "support" roles this year, but for most situations, I can't imagine the benefit of having a robot dedicated to it. In most cases I think support will be...

Re: Secret Passage

I'm not quite sure what you're asking, but you are always free to enter and exit YOUR secret passage from any direction.

This picture was made assuming you were on the blue alliance.

Re: Secret Passage

I like that explanation. Good intuitive sense of what the rule is saying.

Here's a picture (NOT from the manual):

Re: FIRST 2016 Game Manual Mistakes

I already answered this at your other thread, but this is NOT an error because the "depth" in the manual is referring to the distance across the moat.

Re: Manual error

Read it again. They say that it is 2 1/2 inches high. Depth is referring to a different dimension - specifically, the distance across the moat.

And if in doubt, just look at the pictures...

Re: Secret Passage

Yes, my interpretation of that was basically that you CAN cross from the opponent's courtyard into their secret passage (and vice versa), but you CANNOT cross from the neutral zone into their secret...

Re: PSA - How to Pronounce "Cheval-de-frise"

Well, it's acceptable as long as you pronounce it "sho-VEL". :)

PSA - How to Pronounce "Cheval-de-frise"

It's pronounced \shə-ˌval-də-ˈfrēz\. Or "she-VAL-de-FREEZE", if you prefer.

Re: Live Streaming and Recording of Events

I don't think we ever used the cheap camera for an actual broadcast. We're using the GoPro again this year because we wanted to use that widescreen webcam on our robot instead.

Re: Auton Points Maximum

To clarify for those too lazy to read the Q&A, the manual has been updated to only allow one (1) Container Set during auto, even if 6 or more recycling containers are scored.

Re: Could the robot hole the tote shoot door open?

And there's really no benefit to the alliance if this happens, since the chute is now completely blocked by a tote. So I really doubt the refs would call that, especially if the human player...

Re: Human Player Rules

Certainly. Just make sure the third human player puts the totes just outside of the human player zone so that he never actually goes in.

Re: [Ri3D] ‘Snow Problem and Greenhorns Game Match

Re: Making sure EVERY Team can do Auto

It may be that you can score two Container Sets during auto:

If you got 6 containers into the auto zone then this rule would imply that there are 2 Container Sets at the end of auto.

Probably a...

Do you mean learning how to program an FRC robot, or learning to program in general? That's a good first step. Do you have any general programming experience yet?

Re: Best Way(s) to Implement a Delay in Command Groups

Why would this be a problem? Understandably, you could have two commands trying to use a subsystem at the same time. But I'm sure the WaitCommand itself doesn't require a subsystem, and neither do a...

I really wish we could have aired in HD (our footage is coming from a GoPro, after all) but we unfortunately don't have the equipment to capture video in HD. Oh well, maybe next year...

For that...
