Re: Minimum age for FRC?

I was a driver on the field (legitimately, as in all STIMS'd and such) in 8th grade (2012) without issue. Unless something has changed I'd imagine the lack of a lower limit would still apply.

Re: Rasberry Pi for a demo robot driver station

Not sure how easy it would be, but your best bet may be to reverse engineer the DS protocol and then write your own program (probably python?) to act as the driver station. People have done it before...

Re: 2016 IRI Application Listing

Nice spreadsheet! Never seen SPO before, it's interenting. It looked like some teams are missing the Playoff and Qualification portion of their points in SPO though (27, 2590, and 25 at first...

Re: Practice field at champs

I also liked the removal for the coupons. Much simpler and worked just fine.

As always, my one request would simply be to provide more wooden fields for teams to do simple calibration on. It feels...

Re: 2016 IRI Rule Change Suggestions

I agree with this one, at least in part. Focusing on the capture, for a team trying to rank very high, losing the one RP due to a single alliance member's mistake can be very defeating. I think teams...

Team 2607 joins the club with a 20 point auto shown at the MAR District Westtown Event (match video (https://youtu.be/YWFD09p3AJQ)).

Re: pic: MOE 365 Wobblies

To be perfectly clear, this is what the noisemaker 'section' actually says:

There is nothing more said than that. Just use your best judgement.

As for the actual Moe Wobblies, look great!...

Re: MAR Competitions

Honestly such a statement makes me respect a volunteer even more. We already know that doing a job as difficult as Head Referee perfectly is near impossible. I think admitting fault in yourself...

Re: pic: Team 2607 - 2016 Robot

The puncher operates through two carriages that ride on linear bearings. The back one (retract carriage) is driven by a leadscrew across the length of the puncher. The front one (puncher carriage)...

Re: Tuning PID

When you combine a PID control solution with a real device, there are many situations that result it stabilizing at a point that is not the setpoint. To elaborate, if you were using only P to attempt...

Thumbs up Re: Manning Robotics | Week 2 Timelapse 2016

Nice job guys! Thanks for sharing the video.

You sound like you're poised to not only accomplish many game objectives, but perhaps more importantly, have time to practice doing them well.

Re: How many CIMs in your drivetrain?

Here you go (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFYpywyWDyM)

That year we ran 4 CIMs + 4 Mini-CIMs in our shifting 8in Mecanum Drivetrain. Looking back, mecanum probably wasn't the best choice that...

Re: FIRST Choice round two!

We made out pretty well:

1 ADIS16448 IMU (which the credits-to-dollars ratio was insane on btw, thanks Analog Devices!)
2 Xbox Controllers
2 Green light rings
1 12V Battery
2 USB...

Re: FRC 5817 Shooter Prototype Reveal: Asset 003

Looking at the field assembly drawings, isn't the distance more like 15 ft, or even less if just your back bumpers are over the OUTERWORKS?

Re: Frame Perimeter Restrictions?

The bumpers are separate entities from the frame perimeter. Specifically if you're asking whether or not the 120" perimeter limit includes the width of the bumpers, then no it does not.

Re: 2016 Webcast Camera Angles

First, thank you so much for planning this stuff out! I can't wait to watch the MAR (FMA?) webcasts this year.

The most essential thing is to get that full field view from as high as you can. With...

Re: Are non-marking tires required

We used black 10" Harbor Freight wheels in competition for 2012 and had no issues with carpet marking. I don't remember making any black streaks on the carpet when we first started using them, but...
