Re: 30fps Vision Tracking on the RoboRIO without Coprocessor

Interesting work.

We took a look at using the RoboRio for Vision Processing back in 2014 under the alpha test of the new hardware. We tried IP and Web Cams using the same vision detection algorithm...

Re: Tuning PID Constants Over a Range

A lot of good information here in this thread, and compensating for gravity to hold a static position by having a proportional gain relative to the angle will work, but I did want to mention a caveat...

Re: Team 254 Presents: Dropshot Technical Binder 2016

So just a few questions from your friends on 2168.

1. Can you share a little bit more about how you arrive at shooter geometry (compression, contact time, exit speed etc.) required to make the...

Re: CSS blue banners for your team's website!

Integration on TBA Looks pretty nice, for awards maybe someone could make an award image, or a plaque image (like the new awards since 2015) with the first logo and the award name, this way blue...

Re: 2016 IRI Rule Change Suggestions

I vote to Increase the Autonomous time from 15 seconds to 20 seconds. I guess you can leave the Teleop Period the same.

The reason for this change, while subtle will make a huge impact in...

Re: First ever 70 point auto

This! Once we pulled it off in our first quarterfinal match, we were all out of our seat. But the first thing we said was that won't ever happen again.

If teams pay attention to their scouting...

Re: Vision Tracking Warning

Do you have an example image which was washed out?

Using some camera setting tweaks you can usually overcome different lighting at different events, such as reducing camera exposure, and...

Re: Jetson TK1 from First Choice Keeps Failing

Ok. I will try to run that command and report back. Everytime the FS goes read-only, a reboot does not fix. It continues to start-up as read-only. Trying to remount only automatically goes back t...

Re: Jetson TK1 from First Choice Keeps Failing

Thanks for the reply. It continues to fail even if our custom program doesn't run. Our vision program doesn't write out to the hard disk.

We are powering it through the provided wall wart power...

Re: Strange RoboRio Issue

No code means your code is crashing.

Most likely you are getting to a point when your code crashes upon being enabled. This would likely occur in some code within your Teleop Periodic Function....

Re: [FRC Blog] Two Championship Survey Results and Path Forward

FIRST this is a total failure in my opinion.

I stated this to some of the FIRST HQ representatives while at champs this year who were telling me to go fill out the survey.

What is the point of...

Re: Anti-tipping algorithm

That is very true... the induced acceleration due to robot motion will appear as high frequency noise on each signal. The great thing about that, is that it is easy to determine which acceleration is...

Re: Anti-tipping algorithm

Cool idea. For anyone that wants to try this. You don't need to buy any additional sensors, the RoboRio has a built in accelerometer, and you can use that alone to sense pitch and roll angles,...

Re: Dangerous precedent set by Q&A 461: Loaning Parts/Assemblies to other teams

While I think you broke down the Q/A correctly, it is indeed this part where the problem lies. In the past, teams were building complete assemblies and placing it on other robots. And that was...

This doesn't have to be true. They can write a separate program which interfaces with the USB camera and runs in a separate process from the main Robot program. So that, if the USB program ever dies,...
