Go to Post In 2001 instead of staring at the field at the game I turned around and watched the people watch the field. All I could see was a mass of people from all corners of the world, eyes lit up, gears turning in their heads. That, to me, is FIRST in action. - Jessica Boucher [more]

Re: Team Building Exercises

One important thing that I found while conducting team building activities is humor. Make whatever you are doing funny, whether it be throwing pumpkins or solving a grid logic puzzle. A little self...

Re: drivers\coach selection

What I think has been lacking in this thread so far is team chemistry and the importance of the building the team in the right order.

For example who is really in charge when it comes to a match....

Re: Scouting as an Aliiance Captain

Well whether or not you are going to be an alliance captain really won't be known until you get to Friday night. Even for some powerhouse teams you just don't know because anything could happen, your...

Re: FRC 747 - Flight Crew, Cleared For Takeoff!

So I'm just curious because no on else has asked this but what were some of the polices that were enacted that would have made it hard on the team?

I know one of the teams I used to mentor left the...

Re: Phone Policy

First off I do in fact know that multitasking is not a myth, I'm doing it right now! Second of all, out shop is practically a concrete bunker that has 0 cell services and only one or two spots where...

Re: Eliminating "Start Build Day"

Personally I believe that banning the use of practice robots is one of the most ludicrous idea's that I have ever heard proposed as a solution. I get that many teams don't have the resources to build...

Re: FIRST LGBT+ (A blog by and about LGBT+ people in FIRST)

True I believe that most of the work will have to come from changes within teams. But having said that, having a movement that spans all of first, to help guide teams to the kind of changes that are...

Try looking through the myriad of threads on the issue in the scouting forum. There are a lot of really good ideas and tips on this issue.

Re: 20 point auto club

Team 3792 has a 20 point auto. We missed more than we made but we did in fact make it in a couple of matches.

Here is the first that we made at the St. Louis Regional...

Re: [YMTC]: Is robot debris still part of the robot?

If it were the bumper then I think that it probably wouldn't count because the rules say all of the bumpers. So in that case I probably wouldn't give the scale points but still give the challenge...

Re: [YMTC]: Is robot debris still part of the robot?

I think that the question is more referring to the fact that since something fell off the robot, the part that fell off is below the top of the low goal, even though the rest of the robot is above...

Re: Poll-Video Replay

I like the concept of review only applying to scoring and not to fouls. I believe it would significantly cut down on the number review that people would want, and make things more efficient.

Re: Poll-Video Replay

I agree with the idea that it should be instituted on a trial basis at off-season events. I think that since there is more lee way on the rules at these events that implementing it wouldn't be...

Re: Greater Kansas City Regional 2016

Congratulations to all the teams that won an award and competed at the GKC regional. In my opinion probably one of the toughest regionals in the Midwest.

Congrats to 1986, 1775, and 4455, for...

Re: G43 enforcement level

I meant to say outer works in my post. They were shooting from the outer works not the batter.

Re: G43 enforcement level

I think that it all depends on the referee crew. In the St. Louis regional finals 2451 was shooting from the outer workds and several times there were bumped while trying to shoot, and the refs...

Re: Scream For Sally

If it was my team I would cheer loudest for drawbridge, since we have a camera it doesn't matter if we have direct line of sight or not. Does it make it easier yes, but is it necessary No.

Re: Chairman's Preview Week 2

For KC I think your forgetting 1987, 3 Chairmans awards, 2 E.I's. But overall I think that you have really good analysis.
