Re: FRCTop25 Popularity Poll For Charity Results

I'd put odds at 50/50 that 71 beat out the highest PNW team

Re: Tough PNW Champs

I completely agree. The thing that interests me is how there is so many teams that are comparatively very close in ranking. The largest difference between any two teams ranked next to each other...

Re: Tough PNW Champs

I'm most impressed by how the tight the competition is all the way through.

For reference: As I'm writing this 1114 and 2056 are ranked 2 and 3 at windsor essex. If you simply took their current...

Re: Robot Reveal: 179 Children of The Swamp 2015

The mechanum wheels lifting the recycling container inside the gripper is one of the most clever design choices I've seen all year.

Re: Feeder

The slide feeder is mounted on the alliance station side of the wall, and is a 12 inch long piece of 1/4" clear poly carb. Its at a 30 degree angle measured from horizontal.

They are not included...

Re: Transfer gearbox output at a 45° and 90 °angle?

The other option is the universal joint.

A quick google search should show you some examples. Though I will admit I don't know where you could buy...

Re: Disc Lauching Velocity

Its a dynamics problem but the calculations can change based on how your device is set up. A description of your shooter should be enough to figure out the equations and what variables you'll need...

Re: What do you want to see in this years game?

Robots lifting robots for bonus OR coop points. I'm thinking 1 robot lifted by the opposing team is 1 coop point. You could get a maximum of 4 coop points.

Things that would be fun to see with...

Re: [EWCP] EWCPcast, What would YOU like to hear about? Fall 2012.

A cast about devices high level teams get but a lot of teams don't(at least at first).

Examples:
Stingers, over the bumper intakes 2012
Hinged Roller claws, mini bot ramp 2011
Hanging off...

Re: [MCC] Minimum Competitive Concept 2012

I'm in love with minimum competitive concepts now and after giving it some thought heres what I came up with. For the record I'm not assuming the team is a rookie but instead has at least some...

Re: Robotics in the Olympics (theoretical)

For the record I love the idea of Gundams fighting it out as an olympic event.

At its core this is really a debate on how do you define a sport. My personal feeling on the matter is that a sport...

Re: 2013 Game?

If it was up to me I'd like to see a game piece like 2008. Its something that teams have seen before but on a scale that makes everything teams know about handling that type of object have to be...

Re: Newton 2012!

I have to include Team Tators (2122) in the PNW too. Looking at the OPR data 4 of the top 12 are PNW teams.

#3 1983
#5 2122
#11 488
#12 1540

Can't wait to see the scores any of these...

Re: New District Events for 2013?

I will agree with Austin2046 on this one. The growth rate in Washington alone will likely force a district system in the Northwest very soon. In the 2007 season there were 17 teams in Washington. ...

Re: How many teams have sucessfully done a triple balance?

Portland was 360, 3711, and 956. I was running field reset so and I got to watch up close. The only match they didn't was because 3711 didn't move the entire match. That problem is still...

Re: Stopping a Triple Balance

It would actually count for the maximum number of robots balanced, and give the technical-foul as well. Essentially once the alliance sees the red card they can all drive off the bridge and go back...

Re: Stopping a Triple Balance

This is essentially what I was saying earlier. At about the 1:45 mark you can see 488 push 922 into the corner like i was talking about. The difference is I believe with skillful driving you can...

Re: Stopping a Triple Balance

I suppose you could trap a robot in the corner. Push them into the corner opposite your alley. Essentially box them out by angling between the corner of the fender and the wall near the opponents...

There is a good point to be made here still, figuring out the fastest and best way to triple balance is not as trivial as it looks. You have to be aware of which robots can hang off the ends of the...

Re: Kinect usage at competitions

1540 and 2443 both used it in Oregon. 1540 was first pick by the 1 seed and used it to time when they would drive toward the bridge. If they got beat to it they would just stop and not risk driving...
