Re: 2016 Finger Lakes Regional
Alex - that's a fantastic video. Your robot played an absolute shut down defense and that video shows it.
On the subject of video, I just wanted to complement whomever set up the webcast this year....

Re: 2016 Boulder weight issue
This compression issue arose in 2012. Wise teams will design shooters that hit the target regardless of compression status.

Re: [FRC Blog] We're Listening
I don't know if anyone's proposed any solutions rather than just grousing, but here's an idea:
Send the winner of whichever event is first to the second one (all expenses paid), have them play the...

Re: The Curious Case of The Litter
Oftentimes, FIRST uses a new set of game pieces for the elimination matches. A recent non-trivial example was Rebound Rumble where balls lost rigidity during the first few qualification matches but...

The 'Newdle' Agreement
With today's team update, the [old] Noodle Agreement (TNA) is no longer effective - you can't just dump the litter through the chute for 40 easy points. A few members of my team were thinking that...

Re: How to win Engineering Inspiration award???
EI is judged differently at every regional but there seem to be two main categories I've seen teams get EI for:
The first is a "runner up" Chairman's. The award is entirely about work with advancing...

Re: The Noodle Agreement
In my opinion, the line was drawn when FIRST made a "game" where there were no winners.
Given the focus of Recycle Rush, I feel that TNA is fully within the spirit of the game.

Re: Long conveyer to move boxes
I think there's a good argument to be made that 18 pts every time, if executed correctly, would be a very valuable autonomous to have.

Re: The Noodle Agreement
It's very interesting that this has been a debate before. I didn't know the tournament rules for 2003 (I was in 3rd grade!) so I looked them up:
Similar to 2010 it looks like it rewarded high...

Re: 2015 Recycle Rush Scoring
I thought we were talking about maximum possible not maximum feasible score! Plus, with no horizontal size constraints I don't think it's the least feasible thing out there...

Re: 2015 Recycle Rush Scoring
I believe it is possible to score more than one container set in autonomous. There are four containers on the step, and a container set is three containers. Take three from the step to make another...

Re: The Noodle Agreement
You say poorer methods, I say more efficient use of time both in match and during the build season.
How about a modification of the noodle agreement: We each agree to dump 7 noodles (28 pts) and...

Re: Long conveyer to move boxes
There is also an interesting opportunity to detach and play with two robots, as long as they are linked together (including power), or take up large swathes of the field sweeping things around. The...

Re: Long conveyer to move boxes
As long as you can build the robot to fit within transport configuration and under 120 lbs there are no limits on robot size (there is a vertical limit as Jacob said below and I forgot to mention)...

Re: The "Can" Proposal
We've always called TOTES "bins" so it's really tough for our team to wrap our head around BINS being round, and TOTES being what we previously knew as bins. We considered calling BINS cans, but...

Re: The Noodle Agreement
This "Noodle Coopertition" was apparent to a number of members on our team as well. Is it possible that the GDC totally missed it (a la 2011 spring powered minibots) or is this another coopertition...

Re: '6v0' in the World Cup
Yes, if they win against Germany they will seed first. Nate Silver's 538.com (http://fivethirtyeight.com/interactives/world-cup/) pegs the odds of that happening at about 14.3%.

I imagine there are quite a few people on Chief Delphi watching the United State's performance in the World Cup with great interest. After today's game with Portugal (last second heartbreaker...) the...

Re: Behind the Glass With 610
I think this is the angle to take if FRC ever wants to become a real televised sport. Mic the coaches, stream footage from the robots, top-down and field-side views are all great. Hearing the coaches...
