Re: Connect to joystick
Greg: That makes sense! Thanks for the explanation.
I was hoping to write a separate project that I could run on my computer, that would allow me to get axis/button data from the joystick without...

Connect to joystick
Where does the default robot code actually communicate with the joystick? Every VI I looked in (Begin, Teleop, and their contents) played with data types without ever having a...

Re: "Quotes" that were said during build season
I wrote a simulation of a robot (with holonomic drive) moving around and grabbing a ball.
Later:
Me: "So, do we have lasers on the robot?"
Coach: "...no..."
Me: "Do the balls try to escape?"
Coach:...

Re: "Quotes" that were said during build season
Coach: "So it's a software problem?" (referring to two motors being inverted)
Me: "Well, it can be fixed in software, but..." (glancing at a teammate busy with a screwdriver) "...it's already being...

Re: Suspended and touching two Elevated robots?
The situation my team asked about was:
--One robot hanging from the tower
--One robot on the platform
--A third robot hanging from the first, and holding onto the second to stabilize itself (it's a...

Suspended and touching two Elevated robots?
(This probably deserves a Q&A but I don't have access to my team's Q&A account right now)
SUSPENDED: A ROBOT only in contact with an ELEVATED ROBOT and/or a SUSPENDED ROBOT shall be considered...

Re: Size of platform?
The drawings also contain a Tower base piece that seems to add 1.5" to the height of the tunnel, so I don't think there's a conflict there.

Check out the third Team Update; looks like the drawings were correct.
That settles it, then :)

Live video compression?
We want to have the robot send the camera's image, live, to the Classmate, but we're worried about bandwidth. What algorithms/formats should we use for compression? Is there anything in Labview for...

Re: Size of platform?
Thanks for the comments... this looks like a job for the Q&A.
Our team thought the cheap mock field had different dimensions, but the official game drawings are the same: 41x32.5

Re: "Quotes" that were said during build season
Re: Team numbers: After I read the xkcd about it, I started factoring the time. I still do it when I'm bored.
"So we can expand to 90" tall if we're touching the tower?"
"Yup."
"Even if it isn't...

Re: FIRST Design XKCD
I was really really happy to see this comic :D
It isn't the first time that xkcd has been involved with FRC -- our team (2877 Ligerbots) has the first-ever XKCD sponsorship. (Apparently a few of...

Size of platform?
The manual states that the platform is 44x36 inches, but the blueprints seem to show it as 41x32.5.
Which is correct? I didn't see any Q&A threads.
(also: is the tunnel 16.5" or 17.5" or 18" or...

Re: paper: New Scouting Database from Team 2834

Hi, first: I love the database! This isn't just an amazing tool for FRC info, it's a great example of how databases in general should look and feel.
Bug report: I can...
