Re: [FTC]: Scoring points for the opposing alliance

With only 5 matches in qualification at most FTC events, the RPs become really important. At our event last weekend there were four teams who were 5-0 (and other teams who could have been 5-0 if not...

Re: FIRST website is an embarasment

I just typed in a bunch of FLL parent's emails to invite them to the team. After digging them all out of my email and pasting them into the invitation list on the team management page, I hit "enter"...

Re: [FTC]: Closed Loop Scoring illegal!

We were getting frustrated with that last weekend before the first competition, but fortunately stumbled on their PDF file we could download and search through. It has all of the Q&A up-to-date (at...

Re: FIRST website is an embarasment

This is nice and very useful. I've never understood the mileage limit on the FIRST web site search. We only get one event for FRC, ever, with that thing, and it's two miles from our school. It's...

(You think I'm joking on those, but when I stepped into this FTC mentor role two years ago, the culture of the place was such that one of the three teams actually...

Re: Registration 2017

Last year it was our first and only event, and nearly everyone else had already played once or twice. This year we are signed up for two regionals for the first time ever (OKC and Dallas).

Re: [FRC Blog] FRC Events Being Posted and AMAA on FUN

And it has a change of venue, which is probably a good thing. Texas Tech was a nice venue, but their staff treated the FIRST crowd badly. I doubt they recruited anyone to their university that...

Re: Texas October Off-season Events

Thanks for posting these.

We'd love to see a couple of offseason events in N. Texas or Oklahoma (give us a couple of years growth and maybe we will start one).

Re: [FTC]: Robotcontroller App and Driver Station App compatibility issues

It sounds like you have version 1.25 of the SDK on your computer, and that is what you are building the program with that loads onto your computer. It replaces the robot controller that you...

Re: Districts in Texas proposal sent to FIRST

Thanks for the offer. We've had three robot trips to MO so far this year for FTC (KC, Rolla, and St. Louis), so we're happy with the place. We get a lot of MO teams at the OKC Regional, too.

Denver...

Re: Districts in Texas proposal sent to FIRST

As a team in Oklahoma looking at going to multiple regionals next year, that's going to kill most of our options. Arkansas and Kansas City are the only other nearby regionals (6 hours or less)...

Re: [FRC Blog] The Portcullis and the Kit of Parts Survey

This was kind of a downer for our team, because they worked so hard to autonomous the portcullis. It wasn't even an option at our lone regional, except in one practice match (where they successfully...

Re: TIMS is DEAD! & Registration for 2017 opens May 19th

No worries, the FLL team numbers are the same (we're 11 and 21, and I was able to get the YPP to work so am halfway registered).

I don't see a place to edit much stuff for the FRC teams, though,...

Re: Severe Weather in St. Louis

Meteorologists are amazing! ;)

Just wait and see what happens over the next 5-10 years. Lots of cool things being cooked up here in the "weather science" world.

Re: Severe Weather in St. Louis

Sorry, I was talking about today, not tomorrow. (Confused)

Today's storms will affect flights, though. And you want to be careful driving.

Tomorrow bears watching closely as well.

Re: Severe Weather in St. Louis

The most likely time of arrival for the severe storms approaching St. Louis is between 2pm and 4pm. The most likely threat is damaging wind, large hail, and lightning according to the Storm...

Re: Severe Weather in St. Louis

The April 28, 2012 storm produced $1.6 billion in hail damage. There was no confirmed tornado, but at the time it was the 2nd costliest hail storm in US history.

Yes, there is no need to panic....

With ZTE Speeds now only $20, we can make several demo robots for almost no cost to us. I wonder how long the phone battery will last between charges, though?

Thanks for the advice! We'll try this...
