Also big congrats to 744. They really deserved to win after all the years of...

Re: pic: Team 935 Chassis Teaser

They are definitely not in line, looks between .25 and .5 inch raised middle wheels. If you look closely at the bearing then follow the horizontal line you will see it.

edit: beaten to it...

Re: Sitting down during matches

From what I remember from driving, during team intro's you look into the crowd see your team stand and cheer for you and all that and it's great, but once the match starts that's just background...

Re: Observations First Day of Matches

pin and pour seems to be the surest way for bots to score. Getting someone trapped in a corner either by baiting them in or just catching them at exactly the right time. Leaves you vulnerable but...

Re: Why is FRC Kickoff when it is?

If I'm not mistaken...

Re: Carmen Electric's Ball Transport

Looks good! At what pressure are you running the launcher? How many consecutive launches can you get before you run out of air?

Re: pic: Robostangs 548 2008 Overdrive Drivetrain Teaser

I see a pot on there, what kind of a control system are you using, PID? I saw the video and the steering looks pretty smooth so good job there.

Re: Team 1565 Unique Drive System

Wow impressive, definitely gets my vote for creativity.

Couple of questions:

What made you choose this design over a crab style with 1 motor controlling wheel orientation?

Are you worried about...

Re: pic: 343 teaser

Looks like 2002, the thing I really liked about this robot when I saw it at KSC was that it had a very interesting drivetrain that could do things a normal tank drive couldn't.

If you guys are doing...

Re: Why don't I ever see robots that steer like a car

It's definitely been done in the past, but it would probably be under 1% of all robots in the last 8 or so years. I know my team did it in 2003 and had some success.

Re: pic: 1458 Manipulator prototype1

If the belt is pushing down hard enough it doesn't look like it will come loose, I like this design nice job on the prototype. What kind of reduction/rpm is the belt running at?

Re: 2008 and drivetrains

Yea my team in 2003 had 2 steered casters in the front with a 4 wheel drive in the back, it worked pretty well but there were a couple of things i would have changed, and yes you could really fly...

Re: Interesting IR sensor test results

You don't block all frequencies but one (if you could do that simply then you would be making alot of money) but with some combination of low pass and high pass filters you can get a nice bandpass of...
