Re: Las Vegas Update
Hmm.. I've been meaning to post something on the Vegas regional but haven't had a chance.. sort of sidetracked.
Simply said, it was amazing. I had a lot of fun and I'd definitely say that this is...

Re: Do defensive, low scoring tactics work?
I've been reading this thread for the past few days (.. okay, so I skimmed the last few posts!), but..
Even though defense MAY be a good strategy, I don't necessarily think it's wise to build solely...

Re: multiple tetra stacking
Yet.. if you stack a stack of tetras on one goal quickly enough, you might be able to make it a hell of a lot harder for the opponent to stack a tetra of theirs on top of that specific goal. it'd be...

Re: A Team Member Passed Away Last Weekend
:(
Condolences & everything on my own and on my team (1159)'s behalf.. I'm sorry you have to go through this :( As many people have mentioned, though, I'm glad that he found motivation and...

Re: The FRC_CMUcam2_rev-3 program
It should be in the originally zipped file you downloaded from innovationFIRST ... it should be a zipped file, unless you unzipped it. If you don't have the original entire zipped thing for the...

Re: Arm design - rotation mechanism?
But would implementing rotation weaken the device? As in.. with rotation, would it still be able to hold as much weight as it could without rotation?
My team's main concern, as far as I know, is...

Arm design - rotation mechanism?
I was discussing a design I came up with with a mentor on my team and he mentioned that getting a part of the arm (eg the manipulator) the rotate the way I wanted it to would be difficult/complex. ...

Re: Tetra Manipulators
Sounds nice.. just remember to try to test out the idea once you've got a scoring tetra built. The thing is pretty heavy, so .. make sure your design (if you end up using it) will still be able to...

Re: Tetra auto loading zone clarification...
Wasn't there a rule about being in two loading zones at the same time? I haven't read the manual so I can't pinpoint the exact rule, but I remember someone mentioning that it's illegal to be in two...

Are you kidding me? Regionals! I still can't quite understand why people won't give up their London trip to go to Regionals.. I don't get it. And they say they love first? Pfft!
.. haha, okay,...

Re: IMPORTANT regarding the new C Compiler
It might help to know that on http://www.usfirst.org/ homepage, it's on the left-hand side under the "Kickoff" menu :) I had the same problem with finding the link, too, until just now.

Re: Who is using the kitbot?
Ohh.. upload and post, we (or, at least, I!) want to see!
--------
I think 1159's going to be using the entire kit, unless there's a major change in design or something. We'll see in one or two...

Re: Maximum Number of Capped Tetras?
Assuming a robot can cap goals with a stack of 4 tetras at a time, I think the possibilities for 7+ are pretty good.
4 a stack per goal is a good number, though.. at least.. I think. If anyone can...

Re: Removing Tetras
Yeah, I know.. it was just a question :) I was just wondering if that would be legal... it doesn't stop them from getting tetras, but it limits them to at most 3 loading stations.
This year's game...

Re: Removing Tetras
Could you take tetras from the opposing team's automatic loading zone and just keep placing them outside the field, preventing them from getting any tetras at their auto loading zone?

Tentacled robot? Have it load all of its (9, I would think) arms up with tetras, move to the middle, and then just sit and wait until the match is almost over. Then, unload all 9 arms, one tetra...

Re: Most Important Game Aspect of '05
Why do we keep saying tic-tac-toe? It reminds me of bingo, but with 3 per row :P
I think the stacking's one of the most important aspects. If you can get your robot to hold the tetras relatively...

Re: So what do you think of the new game?
It's not one-dimensional. At first, it does seem like it.. but it's not. If you give it some time and think about it a little, I'm sure you'll all come up with spectacular ideas.
Just think out of...

Re: Tetra Manipulators
Or pick the tetra up from the bottom PVCs and hold it tilted at an angle towards the robot. That way, you wouldn't have to get the tetra as high up as the goal, just almost.. and then tilt it away...
