Re: Why did you join FIRST?

In 2005, 766, with 217(!) and 245(!), won Archimedes. A couple of months later, they realized they needed to recruit because much of the team was graduating, and visited my 8th grade science class. ...

And you have Bionic Bulldogs posts! They are from Arizona, and were in Curie Division with us. :D

Re: Team Numbers in Everyday Places

I flew home from Atlanta, bought a slice of pizza. I nearly flipped out and frightened the cashier when the total came to $2.17.

I have seen $2.17, $2.45, $2.47, $2.53, $2.54, $2.56 and once...

Re: Atlanta 2009 - Who's staying where?

766 was staying there as well. Some of you may have seen our team sprawled in the corner playing Mafia one night, and then Western chess and Chinese chess the other two;:D most of us stayed from...

Re: Lessons Learned - The Positive

This year's game was pretty exciting and allowed plenty of strategy discussion and variation. I loved the small opportunities to score, the fast-progressing game and the way that it got me to scream...

Re: Lessons Learned - The Negative

Something interesting I noticed about the Chairman's Award winners (Congratulations 236 TechnoTicks!); do they get any view of the field? It looks like it is near impossible to see the action where...

Re: polyurethane tubing

This stuff is excellent as semi-slip material. It isn't grippy like rubber surgical tubing, but the problem is that it may not pick up as quickly (in my experience-we put tread on our bottom rollers...

Re: 2009 SAC Regional

I have to say, while scouting I stood for a while right in front of some members of Gatorbotics. My ears have still not entirely recovered... I know and love both the Fembots and the Space Cookies...

Re: 2009 SAC Regional

Alright! Our team is definitely looking forward (no pun intended) to this regional. I remember that a few members of 100 came by last year just to say hello. It'll be great to have you guys back...

Re: measuring from bolt to bolt

At the regionals the inspector has the team shove their robot into a box frame that's 28 x 38 x 60 inside. I'm guessing that your 29" side needs to fit into the 28" side. If the bolts stick out...

Re: not quite a robot, but a practice trailer

We built a trailer as well, and instead of using the Rover wheels on that, our trailer team attached strips of slippery teflon stuff to two normal Skyway wheels. The altered wheels seemed to work...

Re: Green and pink painted robot (a good defence?)

I would say that paint is a decoration, not to mention the specific example of color-changing robots. And confusing a camera would certainly interfere with its accuracy, which was probably the whole...

Re: Machines for an Ideal Robotics Workshop?

Actually, with regards to the Toolbox that stays organized, we've found that freshmen works fairly well, and you get to combine cheap labor with the excuse "but we're letting the freshmen help!"

In...
