Re: impossible statements
I'm going to agree with Alan here... you underestimate the power of infinity, Michael.
Also, take this example:
1/3 = .33333....
and 1/3+1/3+1/3 = 1
and .3333.... + .3333.... + .3333.... =...

Speaking of which, I have a friend with a Gateway Athlon 64 Laptop with a screen like you describe. It is very, very nice to look at... unless it;s at the wrong angle, in which case the light...

Re: Laptops

HP & Compaq are the same company, and I'd give it a 99.9% chance that the only differences between #1 and #3 on your list are cosmetic. In fact, I have a Compaq (Presario 2585) that is a...

Re: Does FIRST give out to many awards? (Opinion)
Like others, I see both sides of this one.
In 2001, my team's rookie year, we were thrilled to win the Rookie All-Star award at the Silicon Valley Regional. Then we found out the next day that...

Radical Tournament Ideas
I have a few "radical" ideas:
Radical Idea #1:
Split the Championship into eight divisions, for the same reason it was split into four divisions (as outlined in this post...

Re: Using IFI Controller witout Operator System
My understanding is that simply editing the autonomous code will not allow the robot to operate without the operator interface. Yes, the code will run, but the outputs will remain null. This is...

Re: self replicating robots....
I checked this out moments ago via Slashdot and I have to say that I found the video uninspiring. I guess my idea of a self-replicating robot requires that the "basic building blocks" be exactly that...

It seems to me that the best way to do this would be to look at teams that attended multiple regionals and the championship, and see how each they did in each regional. Specifically, I would like to...

Good points - it seems to me) that 277 hours is longer than most robots are on, in their lifetimes. Nevertheless, you are right - only writing when you need to is a better solution than writing...

EEPROM Lifetimes
As far as I know (not an expert by any means), most EEPROMs are good for at least a million write cycles. So don't go writing to it every cycle, but every second should be fine.
