Re: How does descoring work?

It's not illegal, just very hard to do without breaking either G22 or G36 as posted above.

Re: Knocking down other side's ball

Ball dips down 8 inches, give or take a bit. You've got two inches of impact room to play with, at the maximum.

Re: Nocking down other side's ball

Pushing the ball backward -- at maximum width, the ball extends 2-3 inches past the bar, at a height of 7.5 feet. Well... good luck.

Re: Can you hurdle the Trackball's backward?

Seems to me you could pass the ball back across the finish line, for a robot in your home stretch to continuously hurdle the ball.

Re: How does descoring work?

I was more thinking on a strategic side but yes, the refs are in for trouble XP

Re: OVERDRIVE Rules/Scoring Questions

I might just be losing it today, but I don't like the phrase "scored trackball". Does the process of taking a trackball off of the overpass consider the trackball "scored"? Are the points being...

Re: How does descoring work?

It's a lot of point counting, unless the rules somehow get changed or opened up for more interpretation.

Re: 2008 Game- Overdrive

It's a simpler game as far as scoring and such, but a harder game for how to do it. Getting a ball over that overpass is going to be very interesting. How to get the second trackball over the...

Re: How does descoring work?

Yep. There's some guesswork in the case, and you'd have to be very hopeful the ref didn't decide to penalize you just for coming close to the height limit. That or have some very good evidence that...

Re: How does descoring work?

Circular relationship, err, function for a circle. X^2 + Y^2 = R^2

Radius of ball -- 20"
length of overpass -- 32", believedly.

16^2 + y^2 = 20^2
y = 12. 12 is the height from the center of the...

Re: How does descoring work?

Hope you're not getting too worked up, just thinking in a lot of directions and not spent a lot of time arond the rules. You're definitely right there. We might be limited to the bottom of the...

Getting my math out, brb.

But to jgannon, you can turn around and knock it down.

You're considered crossing when ALL PARTS have crossed the line. GO past, turn around,...

Re: How does descoring work?

You can go in any direction in a given quadrant, you just can't cross the lines going the wrong direction. Otherwise if a ball rolled into a corner, you're in extremely hot water.

edit: And you...

Re: What is a hurdle?

Seems to just mean you can't touch the ball again after it crosses the finish line, until it hits the floor or another robot. The score counts, as far as that reads.
