Re: USB Camera using too much bandwidth
It was taking down the field control system because of using too much bandwidth. I don't believe we were given the option of experimenting with lower resolutions, though our programmer thinks it was...

Re: Microsoft HD3000 LifeCam How to use?
Getting the Microsoft USB camera working isn't that bad, just grab the 4-5 lines of init code in the Java vision sample and stick it in the same object in your code. But don't bother, apparently it's...

Re: USB Camera using too much bandwidth
We just got told we weren't allowed to use the Microsoft camera at all over the network @ SVR. Maybe would have been nice to discover this problem before it was given out in the kit of parts...

Re: Yet Another Manual App
Thanks for the feedback, folks. To answer the questions:
1. Speed Up: Yes, we use custom networking libraries based on Loopj/AynchHttp and we use a slightly modified version of ActiveAndroid which...

Re: I created a new FRC Manual App for Android
Forgot the link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appdelegates.frcmanual2014
I am tempted to open source it, but it has a bunch of AppD proprietary stuff in it. Maybe if I can...

Re: I created a new FRC Manual App for Android
Hey Christian,
I did a new version of our old AppDelegates Manual App while you were working on yours. I just saw yours after I published the new one. I saw the complaints on the ETC one, and it was...

Re: Is Bag and Tag Necessary?
6 weeks X 10 hours per week with students = 60 hours total.
Less than one work week where I live. Hardly time for a full engineering cycle (maybe we're just slow in Silicon Valley). Sure, this does...

Re: Tasks in C++
You might want to just switch to using the Command based model which takes care of scheduling commands for you. We had been writing our own scheduled objects with update loops we kicked each pass...

Re: Serious crashing issues
You might also want to start your compressor before Auton mode is called. You might need some time to build up pressure.

Re: Serious crashing issues
For sure there is over feeding of the watchdog timer (WDT). You could even disable it completely to eliminate it as a possible source of a problem. I think you can safely comment out all the watchdog...

Re: Is Bag and Tag Necessary?
I agree with this 100%. FRC should show a more realistic view of the engineering process with brainstorming, designing, planning, prototyping etc. getting more than a week or two before the need to...

Re: The Robonauts 118 - 2013 Video
I guess I'd like to see a bill of materials. If you had to build this robot in the real world it would cost a lot more than $4K. IMHO it's about time FRC started leveling the playing field for teams...

Re: Git or SVN in WRWB
I'll have to check out Mercurial. I agree Git is way nasty when you need roll something back (like that 40Mbyte movie you checked in by accident).
For now, I have Git on the command line while I...

NetConsole cout vs. printf on Old/New CRIO
Just a heads up that wasted a bit of my time...
It seems our new CRIO (4 slot) can print to the Net Console using cout without a namespace qualifier:
cout << "In autonomous mode";
Works fine. The...

SOLUTION: Fixing Stuck Safe Mode on Old CRIO
Hi Gang,
Our old CRIO was stuck in SAFE mode preventing a re-image. If you can see your CRIO with the 2012 Imaging Tool (the one that shows the CRIO and its slots), and no matter what position the...

The above code looks fine to me...the brackets all balance and I do not see an out of place semicolon.
I am having the exact same problem, but only with the old CRIO. The new CRIO works fine. No...

Re: Git or SVN in WRWB
Git is essentially the industry standard these days for version control, at least in my business. It is built right in to Xcode, it's easy to integrate in Eclipse (though SVN is too) and in GitHub...

I wanted to put eGit in WRWB so our team could do revision control, but WRWB is lacking the install software menu in standard Eclipse. Does anyone know how to make this work?
I see it has...

Re: FRC Info iPad App: Feedback Please!
Sorry, but probably not. The framework we developed for these kinds of apps is iOS only right now. :( If we see more demand for Android tablets, we'll port it.
