Re: paper: Einstein History

If you look at the awards page, it shows the winning alliance (65, 469, 111) and the finalist alliance (25, 494, 343).

2003 is also missing the SF...

Re: paper: Einstein History

Your 2001 data seems to be missing the semifinalist alliances (Curie and Galileo).

Curie (http://www.thebluealliance.com/event/2001cur#awards): 115, 217, 75, 60, 85
Galileo...

Re: #FIRSTChampLIVE Announcement

Thank you to everyone involved in the broadcasts for all your hard work. I think this is a huge step in growing interest for FIRST "outside the tent."

We had some mentors who couldn't make the trip...

Re: What would you do to improve the FIRST experience?

I wasn't trying to suggest that a District team on a Regional-winning alliance should not qualify for a Championship slot. I don't think that would be fair. They would receive a slot from their home...

Re: What would you do to improve the FIRST experience?

This is definitely an area where teams in a District system have an unfair advantage. I agree that keeping District teams from competing at a Regional would mitigate this, but I'm curious if there's...

Being Proactive About Paper Airplanes on Einstein

It's one of everyone's favorite reoccurring topics: complaining about people throwing paper airplanes from the stands while waiting for the Einstein matches to start. A quick search shows at least...

Re: Is CAD essential to all teams?

CAD is not essential. As others have said, it is a tool that can provide a lot of benefit in the right hands. In the wrong hands, it can give false confidence in a design that is not...

Re: [GameSense] Ep. 8 w/ Spencer from 1747!

Great show as always. Thanks for the 177 shout out, and the vote of confidence in our chances of making another Einstein run. We're very proud of the robot our team built this year, and regardless of...

Re: New England Hartford District: Special Thanks to FRC 177 & FRC 155

Thank you 2168 for being fantastic partners. Your ability to fly over the defenses, shoot high, and play defense when needed really helped round out our alliance. As our second pick was approaching,...

Re: Running over a boulder foul

Based on what I saw from the stands, the way the refs at the Hartford District called G38 seemed very fair. If a robot was in possession of a boulder and happened to drive over a second boulder, a...

Re: withholding allowance??

Per R18 (Game Manual Section 4.6) when you open your bag before an event, anything added to the bag counts against your 30lb withholding allowance for that event, with the exception of:

Commercial...

Re: FRC unbagging rules

What you are describing is the 2014 version of the rule:

The 2015 version changed the minimum time to 2 hours, and appears to be identical to the version in the 2016 Administrative...

Re: Top 5 teams for your state over the last 4 years

In SamcFuchs defense, that list seems to be based on 2015 alone. We were far from top 5 last year.

Re: [FRC Blog] Audience Displays and a Favor

This definitely threw me at first. I can understand the logic behind the layout, but I think it might be a little more intuitive if the center section was flipped. That would align an Alliance's...

Re: Max number of high goals?

Section 3.3.2 has a pretty conclusive passage indicating that the STRENGTH of a TOWER can be negative. It can also go above eight.

Re: paper: 2015 FRC Championship History

Thanks for keeping track of all this Jim.

The 2001 column on the "15 Year_History_Results" tab has several errors, despite accurate data in the "2001" tab. It looks like the lack of quarterfinals...

Re: Vaccum System

You could also do what we did in 2004, and make your own vacuum pump. All you need is a motor and a pneumatic cylinder. As far as I know this would be legal under this year's rules, but there may be...

Re: Old FIRST compared to New FIRST

The general match format has changed several times throughout the years.

1992-1998: 1v1v1 - A match consisted of three robots on the field, each trying to score the most points. (Based on old...

Re: FRC Blog - 2014 Championship Pros & Cons

I think there are two major factors that have contributed to the paper airplane "tradition".

In order to avoid getting stuck in the nosebleed seats, teams begin filling the Einstein stands well...

Re: 2014 Lessons Learned: The Negative

I think a good compromise would be to do some kind of introductions during the Einstein "test matches" while all four robots from the alliance are out on the field. I think those matches would also...
