Re: Inter-District Play in 2017

I'd like to echo this sentiment, both as an FRC mentor for 1747 and as an accessory to the planning committee of the Tippecanoe district both last season and for this upcoming season. The Michigan...

Re: What COTS parts would you like to see?

In years past where crushing box was an issue, we would rip down a piece of scrap hardwood on a table saw to fit snugly within a tube and just use that. Does exactly what you're after and would be...

Re: Stronghold Drivetrain Review

I never thought I'd see the day that we'd use a treaded drive, but this was the year.

Basic:
Waterjetted, folded aluminum drive pods with custom pulley layout
AM Rhino Belts
Rhino pulleys (replaced...

Re: Lesson Learned 2016 - The Negative

I suppose it does give teams more options on intakes, though the success of mechanisms operating under the bumper would be a question for me. I'm more specifically referring to the numerous...

Re: Andymark Super Sonic shifters

To be clear, when I say building your own custom gearbox, my assertion was machining your own plates to positions shafts and motors in a way that is advantageous for your application. There are way...

Re: Lesson Learned 2016 - The Negative

Sorry, Alan, I wasn't clear. I'm well aware they legally can't span the whole zone. Our bumpers began at 4" from the ground and terminated at 9" (Actually it was more like 4.5-9 if you're measuring...

Re: Lesson Learned 2016 - The Negative

Our bumpers, at the lowest they could physically be, were rarely in contact with the defenses, if ever, event the rock wall. If they'd been 1/2" higher they would have never contacted the defenses...

Re: Lesson Learned 2016 - The Negative

Our perspectives don't often align, but I agree with this statement. In 2015 we got scorekeepers for a game object that had to be in place at the end of the game, there was really only one scoring...

Re: Andymark Super Sonic shifters

YOU AGAIN!?!?!?

Just kidding. Lot of folks have been breaking gears in the final stage on the VP gear box this year, even with the fix to the interface between the shifter shaft and the hex shaft. ...

Re: Andymark Super Sonic shifters

The Super Sonic Shifter doesn't represent the introduction of any untested technology, so I wouldn't expect performance or reliability outside of the realm of what has been observed with any of...

Re: pic: The worst of the stripped VexPro gears

Cbale2000 posted about it, so I guess it's my turn.

Personally, I'd like to see us really understand the failure, because maybe as a community we can help VexPro understand the issue and solve what,...

Re: Blocking 2 ball autons

I'd argue having the boulders against the outer works that you're trying to cross is actually a larger obstacle to most teams than it is an aid. If the boulders are in that position care must be...

Re: pic: Stripped VexPro gear

RS775. It broke on the "down" actuation though, which is much lower applied power systematically. My guess is it's actually more related to shock load of the intake coming up against the hard stop...

Re: pic: Stripped VexPro gear

We broke one at our district championship event. The interesting and slightly concerning thing is that it wasn't at a particularly high load, just a sustained, consistent torque load due to a...

Re: Ball bouncing out of the high Goal

We just don't shoot such that our (nearly 45 mph velocity) shot trajectory is perpendicular to the back board and we've stopped having bounce outs. Every shot that we took that went into the high...

So, all this recent conversation is interesting and all, but I have to point something out, or ask a question I guess.

Seriously, this has to be the first...
