Re: Webcasts 2016 Week 3

Thanks everyone, it was a firewall and browser issue. It works.

Re: Webcasts 2016 Week 3

I keep getting a flash:Video file not found error. If it is working for anyone else then just let me know. I am checking all my computer settings in the meantime.

Re: Webcasts 2016 Week 3

Is the Bayou Regional webcast working for anyone? I am trying to figure out if it my computer's settings or if the broadcast isn't working.

Re: Why does everyone hate this game so much?

This is the best question I have seen raised. Another question I would add to this is: Has anyone on the GDC been a mentor or a member of an actual team? I am wondering if the things that are...

Unhappy Re: Why does everyone hate this game so much?

I dislike this game for two simple reasons.

A single game piece which causes animosity between what should be alliance members. Teams are justified in wanting to play the game with the robots...

Re: Unscheduled Team Update: 3-20-2014

I would be interested to see if this is still the case tomorrow come eliminations. First day qualifiers under the "new" rules, it iss possible that there aren't enough good robots on the field at...

Re: Unscheduled Team Update: 3-20-2014

This is an interesting concept. Will this be the year of the Possum bot? (A robot that can play dead)

If they are going to actually enforce this new rule then they need to put a speed limit out...

Re: Unscheduled Team Update: 3-20-2014

Sorry everyone, I think this new subjective ruling is totally my fault. I had this to say in another thread:

"Our beef is with the harsh and subjective penalties associated with the game Aerial...

I agree completely and pretty much predicted this exact scenario back in the first week Aerial Assist and Ill Will thread: ...

Re: pic: 2992's 2014 Robot - Atlas

Pretty much our theory was why re-invent the wheel. Simbot SS had already won a championship so we "stole from the best", we are actually "inventing the rest" for Bayou in that we have a couple...

Re: 2014 Arkansas Regional

And this is indeed a position I would agree with, except that the inverse is not true. Many times a single hit with gusto were not considered possession enough to count as an assist for scoring. It...

Re: 2014 Arkansas Regional

I am trying to figure out how to get my name out of the conspiracy theory quote just so some of the well deserved reputation hits to that account don't get associated with me or my team.

I have been...

Re: 2014 Arkansas Regional

Thanks! We were wondering what those other penalties were. I have had several discussions with other referees in PM and they also explained the GUI system to me. Hopefully FIRST will fix that so...

Re: Petition: Lower technical foul values to make this game better

I have never claimed that we were biased against, just that to an outside observer it may appear that way because the penalties were not showing up real time. Further review of our Regional Finals...

Re: Petition: Lower technical foul values to make this game better

So instead of improving the system, identifying the weak points and maybe getting the overworked refs some help I should just suck it up? I dont think so. I have been around FIRST enough to know the...

Re: Petition: Lower technical foul values to make this game better

I dont want to follow this line of thought to its ultimate conclusion which is if you have nebulous enough penalties and make them harsh enough and allow no recourse, replay, or protest then you can...

Re: Petition: Lower technical foul values to make this game better

I could get my head around leaving the penalties but two things need to happen immediately.

The first is they have to improve the real time penalty score updating. If you dont know you are fouling...

Re: 2014 Arkansas Regional

I see what you are talking about. I can only relate what the referees told us when our team asked a ref what the penalty was for. I relayed what we were told in my previous post. Once again I feel...

Re: 2014 Arkansas Regional

For match 3 the inadvertant hitting of the red ball of 4522 while being pushed by the bomb squad and trying to pick up the blue ball they missed at about 1:27 minutes was penalized as herding.

I am...

Re: Petition: Lower technical foul values to make this game better

And based on what I was seeing at the Arkansas was exactly opposite. This is a personal amecdote just like your anecdote. The problem is that there is too much for the refs to do in order to have a...

Re: Simple Referee Question

Yes, I needed that information for when I craft my letter to FIRST about the results of the Arkansas Regional. I just needed to get all my facts straight.

Thank you again.

Re: Petition: Lower technical foul values to make this game better

Something should change I agree. Technical fouls swung the finals at the Arkansas regional. Technical fouls called and deliberated on after each of the last two games were over and not in real time...

Re: San Diego: Tech Foul in Finals

A very similar thing happened at the Arkansas regional finals. Technical fouls called and deliberated on after the game was over and not in real time were levied on the blue alliance for both the...

Simple Referee Question

Are all the referees for Regional events pulled from local volunteers, or do they travel with the fields?

Thank you.
