Run "lspci" on the command line. It will still display the card; Ubuntu just doesn't show it anywhere else because it doesn't have the driver.

I run Ubuntu (and have for every release they've had), but I also used Gentoo for a while (until it bombed out on me with a kernel panic whenever I tried to use emerge... probably running straight...
