Re: Use of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries in place of Lead Acid for FRC r

The types of battery OP linked has internal protections and a fuse (in this case a 25amp internal one) that keeps it pretty safe.

Like i said LiFepo4 is safer then LiPo but I still wouldn't trust...

Re: Use of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries in place of Lead Acid for FRC r

The pouch...

Re: Use of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries in place of Lead Acid for FRC r

All the downsides apply to LIFEPO4 as much as any other lithium battery, the LiFepo4 stuff is probably safer when it goes off compared to a LiPo but it's still a pretty big hazard...

I'm all game...

Re: Use of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries in place of Lead Acid for FRC r

LiFEPO4 and Lithium Ion 18650 cells and such are not generally rated with large output capacity with some exceptions. One being the A123 26550 cell with an insane 70amp output. (i'm building a pack...

Re: Use of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries in place of Lead Acid for FRC r

There's a few reasons why first doesn't use Lithium batteries and it really isn't surprising. I work as a engineer in the drone industry so I've gotten pretty comfy with the world of lithium...

Re: What COTS parts would you like to see?

I have listed both model numbers for the disk and caliper: BRK-512 and BRK-480L. You should find both parts on the website. The caliper uses a regular old bike cable.

Heh.. ironically this was an...

Re: Off season T-Shirt Launching Tank Robot

As an Ex-3647 student... i remember that tank...

The smaller grey tank was obtained from McMaster-Carr and is stupidly heavy/overbuilt for FRC competition uses (like 300+ PSI).

The bigger black...

Re: Lesson Learned 2016 - The Negative

Re: Team 5209: Rectify - Tinker Tie Betas now on sale!

Looks like a small lithium ion soft pack, 3.7v around 1000-800mah. These are lipo so please take caution. They will burn you quite nicely if they vent due to a short or overcurrent.
