I've used the Slate: it's a nice product, and the touch screen is actually pretty accurate. It's a small, cool device. Can't answer any owner questions though, only used it for a few minutes.

Really? I don't think this can happen due to the interface between the PPC and the FPGA - if the kernel crashes, the FPGA should disable the outputs.

For the 2011 classmate key, the reimage includes Windows 7. I believe the 2010 reimage does as well? I'm guessing this will be mandatory if that's the case.
