Re: Did I read <R32> Correctly? Six CIMs?

It is not that simple.
For example, 6 CIM motors on the drive train gives you more torque at your disposal, thus reducing the risk of stalling them. Each team has to do the math to determine what it...

Re: Championships - Qualification Only Event?

Interesting and popular perspective amoung some folks who mentor in FRC. However, doesn't the "C" in FRC stand for Competition? I would think the name is what it is for a reason.

Re: Disrupting Alliances

Actually, look at the records on FIRST under the archived results. We were #8 seed and were debating whether or not to decline. The rest is history - what Glenn said is accurate. There is no doubt...

Re: AndyMark shifter Dog Gear screw problem - lower your pressures

To allow the shifter to work more smoothly and reliably at lower pressures (and just in general):

What I have always found with the AM shifters is that you need to leave the cylinder somewhat...

Re: Highest Score 2011

I believe that 158 is the highest possible score by an alliance. So, 135 out of 158 is pretty good for early regionals.

How often do we think a score of 158 will happen this year? Will it happen...

Re: Minibot material madness

There are a lot of questions about what is allowed on the minibot. The rules are very simple:

On the hostbots, any COTS (commercial of the shelf) parts are allowed with some restrictions...

Re: Free Drive Belts - Bills Blog

OK, I exchanged some emails with the Gates rep. He said that for Aluminum HTD sprockets with 5mm pitch and belt width of 9mm or 15mm, any sprocket with up to 34 teeth will come with flanges and any...

Re: Free Drive Belts - Bills Blog

I ordered the 9mm wide ones - that may be the difference. I just need to call them next week to determine if the 9mm are available with flanges.

Re: Free Drive Belts - Bills Blog

I ordered the 5mm HTD belts and aluminum sprockets. I was expecting to get sprockets that had the rims on them as the picture in the catalog showed. Instead, I received ones with no rims. I went...

Re: How was this made? (Aluminum Heat Sink - Mystery Manufacturing Method)

It is hard to tell because the pictures are not crisp enough. But looking at the fact that the fins are so close together and they have no draft and they have a shiny and dull side, I would guess it...

Re: pic: Carrie Byron and Wildstang at Capitol

Eric is right - too much going on at work. I wish I could have been there. I love visiting DC.

What I do not understand is how Al let Dave get away with not wearing a tie-dyed or Hawaiian shirt.

Re: **FIRST EMAIL**/Updated Championship Information

OK, that is still 356 spots total (89/division). I think in past years we have had 344 teams max. This may provide more teams an opportunity from the waiting list.

When you think about it 90 is the...

Pit map shows a lot more that 85 teams in each division. Unless I counted wrong - I see 98 spots for Newton

Re: Drive-over penalties still being called

First thing I want to say is: I miss Lunacy where penalties were rare and matches were not decided by the refs. G46 reminds me of the cross the line in reverse penalty in 2008.

Secondly, when was...

Re: Best 2010 Kicker

Re: Kansas City Regional - 2010

I agree - the bad kind of collusion is only when BOTH alliances agree to a strategy that will give them a seeding advantage over the rest of the field. It is not against the spirit of this game,...
