Re: William Hung
Sorry, but I have to wholeheartedly disagree. Just because you may not like his music does not necessarily mean he has no talent. The primary function of singers and dancers is to entertain...

Re: IB
Our school has AP instead, and the administrators have told us that there is no significant difference if we were planning to go to school within the US anyway.

Re: Mentor Respect
As a member of one of those teams where students do virtually everything, even at the administrative level, I still have to disagree with Ian. I don't think it matters whether you feel you're putting...

Re: Late as it is for strategy, I was thinking.
Actually, at SVR, penalties were given for breaking the plane of the barrier, no matter whether it was through the ball corral or over the window. Specifically, I remember 253 throwing their arm back...

Re: Iraq
A member of our team joined the marines shortly after graduating and was sent to Iraq this year. Sadly, he was KIA last month. While war has the potential to be very tragic, the soldiers in Iraq are...

I'd expect scouting to be a fairly common task, as many teams seem to be using some sort of electronic information database.

Re: Week #5 - Silicon Valley Regional
This year's was the best SVR yet!
Congratulations to winning alliance 971, 254, and 852. All the robots and students were amazing, but yours stood out the most, and won you the regional. Good job,...

Re: Singapore FIRST
It isn't; it's a local organization inspired by USFIRST. One of the things i was unsure of was whether combining the two programs would be feasible/advisable.

Re: Rigged partner assignments?
Having it completely random would not be a good thing. That would lead to situations such as having to play two consecutive matches occuring, which would be very difficult for most teams. Match...

Re: Sad News - FIRST Robotics Alum KIA in Iraq
Team 840 appreciates your sympathy. This has indeed been a tragedy, not only because of the loss of a soldier, or the loss of a team member, but even more as the loss of a friend.
For those of you...
