In the past from 1996-2010 all of our frames have been welded, generally using 6061-T6 as the base material. But we also would have our frames sent out for annealing and heat treat post welding...

The ball in the video was fresh to start the test and had tears in it by the end of the weekend. (ball bounced back into the chain....) The consistency didn't appear to change with the slightly torn...

Be careful using encoders attached to the motor shaft, rather than at the output. There is backlash in the system(planetary gearbox + external reduction) that will not be seen at the motor shaft.
