Re: pic: FRC Robots are the best mode of transportation!

Ehh, I think your a bunch of pansies, you think I am an idiot. Guess I really don't care, I am done with the whole first thing anyways.

Re: pic: FRC Robots are the best mode of transportation!

That is different, a punch removes a finger far more easily then a decently shielded DT, also that is a adult at a business, not a kid ridding a robot. I did make the age distinction for a reason, in...

Re: pic: FRC Robots are the best mode of transportation!

Honestly, I heal now, I won't heal so well when I am old. Better to make my mistakes now, no?

Re: pic: FRC Robots are the best mode of transportation!

Lighten up safety addicts, your like the plague. Honestly, the best way to teach someone how to swing a hammer is to let him smack his thumbs a few times... It is unlikely that someone will retain...

Re: 6 wheel drive with chain tensioners and shifting

Actually my mentor showed me how to run the side panels and their supports as a single part, which apparently is a good enough approximation. I will post the files though if anyone wants to look at...

Re: 6 wheel drive with chain tensioners and shifting

looks like our frame weighs 22 lbs and the gearboxes/motors/wheels weigh 23 lbs

I like the sound of these (http://www.8020.net/Quick-Frame-5.asp), I will suggest them to the other students.

With...

Re: 6 wheel drive with chain tensioners and shifting

I did run it through a stress analysis already, it crumpled like a wet rag. ( I don't really know what I'm doing in the stress analysis, I will give the tutorials another shot tonight however) A...

Re: 6 wheel drive with chain tensioners and shifting

Ya, ideally I would use 5/16 or 1/4, but we don't have it and off season projects are on a shoestring budget. Dropping the plate to 1/4 would save me 3.2 lbs if I left it with as many holes in it as...

Re: 6 wheel drive with chain tensioners and shifting

Pneumatics, servos suck. With the gearbox being a direct drive I don't think I will try to squeeze out the extra foot or two per second, the best i could do would be change the gearbox from a 9 to 1...

Re: 6 wheel drive with chain tensioners and shifting

1. It is preference, it seems to lave a bit more room for other things like electronics and a manipulator.

2. Omnis in the corners plactions in the middle. We would mount heavy components in the...

Re: 6 wheel drive with chain tensioners and shifting

Just some additional info, in low gear the bots speed is 5.6 fps and in high gear it is 14.3 fps.

Could really use some some additional feedback.

Re: pic: My First WCD

If all your wheels are in line with each other you will not be able to turn. you need to lower the middle wheel so there are never more then 4 wheels on the ground at a time.

Re: 6 wheel drive with chain tensioners and shifting

1. Ok, no problem

2. Back wheel is in the output shaft of the gearbox. Traction is connected to both omnis.

6 wheel drive with chain tensioners and shifting

Here is a project that I was in charge of. The idea was to build a drive similar to the one we built a 5 months ago. The purpose of this drive was to include shifting as well shed 20 lbs from our...

Re: pic: 6 Wheel Drive Render 2.0

If those are andymark wheels you actually have to drop the plaction wheel down 1/8 ish, because even though supposedly the wheels have the same diameter, they really do not.

Sucks if your plactions...

Ya, forgot to mention insert for the wheel itself. I would suggest staying away from key ways, they sheer occasionally.
