Re: Attention All Teams! Looking for 1 Picture of Each of Your Robots

Here is a link to our home page (http://www.railerobotics.com/). From there choose either HTML or Flash and there should be a picture of the robot in the center (with the text "'Protege 3'...

I made this in my spare time. Nothing fancy, but I thought it was funny, so...

Note: It wasn't working, and was too big to be an attachment, so I cut out parts and re-attached it.

Re: "Quotes" that were said during build season

"All we have to do is make our thing longer." - our VeX captain, referring to the ball-collecting arm on the Vexbot.

Re: What to do with all these poof balls?

Serious answer: donate them to underpriveledged kids.

Comical answer: If FIRST had thought ahead, they'd have made the poof balls edible so that at the end of the season they could wash them, ground...

Re: Top-Notch Webcomics!

I can't believe nobody has mentioned some of the best webcomics ever made:

The Rogues Gallery
Ruins of the Fourth Wall
Dinosaur Comics (qwantz.com)
Get Blue Spheres

You may also want to go to...

Re: To ramp, or not to ramp?

If getting up the ramp is as hard as everybody says it is, then the chance of all three robots getting on the ramp and staying there are slim. Having two alliance partners capable of staying on the...

Re: A 2007 challenge?

It looks like it might have something to do with the "death ray" they built in Mythbusters. Once you have high-speed projectiles in a FIRST competition, anything is possible.

Re: The "You are wrong" Game

No, because left and right are merely different parts of the same thing (like energy and matter).

FIRST is the best way to spend your time.

Lightbulb Re: Ramp Scoring, At 00:00 or After?

Why not simply turn your robot so that it's at an angle or even facing sideways on the ramp? Assuming you're not using wheels that swivel, it should work and be easier to implement than brakes.

Re: 2007 Game Thread

I know, but my point was: who wants a robot that holds only one or two poof balls at a time (or water balloons or flags or whatever they're using in 2007)?

Re: Ramming and Hitting

There are five reasons to not want to ram excessively.

1. Not GP.
2. Penalties
3. Anyone ever heard of the more negative version of the golden rule (I think it originated in the Far East)?...

Re: 2007 Game Thread

Walking on mercury, maybe, but a robot so dense it sinks in mercury would probably exceed the weight limit. :yikes: It would be an interesting game, though...

Re: BalBot - Anyone seen this?

If it can't go on an incline, then it makes me wonder how easily it would tip if pushed. Still, it's an interesting idea, and one I'm willing to bet will make it's way into one team's robot design...

Re: Ball Deformation

I think the key phrase here is "consistently." The odd poof that somehow gets slightly mangled probably won't get you disqualified.
