Re: Responsibilities of a Mentor

It seems that many people are completely misunderstanding the "black magic" analogy that Kelly and Rachel have brought up. Perhaps this will clear it up.

The idea is something like this. Most...

Re: BEST TEAM IDENTITY

And who can miss their annoying beeping cart.

Me, I prefer a nice, simple, dignified presence. Vae Victis, with our legionnaire banner and subtle logo, is, I think, a model for all teams who don't...

Re: High Score at the CT Regional

The fact that FIRST doesn't list a 558 point match at the CT regional during qualifying leads me to suspect that this occurred during an extended practice match.

Re: 2008 Chesapeake Regional

Benhulett, I think it may be telling that the winning alliance consisted of the number 10, 21 and 43 ranked teams. Some people may ignore doing any scouting, but they tend to lose.

Re: Elite (invite only) FIRST teams

Any FIRST team based on the principles of exclusivity and winning at all costs goes against everything that FIRST stands for. Such a team would neither inspire nor motivate any student except the...

Re: 2008 Chesapeake Regional

No hay problema. The point is that, even though you believe that they are of no value, they are still the foundation of your society.

In essence, try for real science without Aristotle and...

Re: /. - Engineers have a Terrorist Mindset?

Not that are apparent through FIRST. Maybe it will turn out that you need all of that humanities stuff that you though were pointless in the first place.

Re: /. - Engineers have a Terrorist Mindset?

Call and warn people beforehand, Weathermen style? Blow it up in such a way that it doesn't damage other buildings?

Re: 2008 Chesapeake Regional

Homer was from Ionia, Herodotus was from Halicarnassus, and Galen was from Mysia. Aristophanes' birthplace is unknown, but traditionally he was also from Ionia.

All of these locations are in Asia...

Re: 2008 Chesapeake Regional

Maybe a trip to SJC will help you figure out how to make sense. You're sad that you are not missing the Chesapeake Regional? Then get out of here.
Furthermore, it is a mistake to look at the...

How fortunate I am, Cheif Delphi! When I ask you for the one of gracious professionalism, you present me with a swarm of them, which are in your keeping. Suppose that I carry on the figure of the...

Re: Gracious Professionalism

Let's Socrates this thread up a little bit. We have been given many examples of gracious professionalism, but these are just the bees. I'm looking for the hive.

What is gracious professionalism,...

Re: Gracious Professionalism

Many would say it is both gracious and professional to make sure your robot will not damage another team's robot.

Re: Good to know

It would be awesome if you went to the future and found out you were going to win. Then you could just sit back and relax for the rest of build season, since you will win anyway.

Sure, causality...

Re: how many teams r making poppers for the end game

By pop do you mean literally making a hole in the ball so it deflates?
Or are you "popping" them up and out?

Re: Can u out eat our team?

Guys, firstly, this is completely unscientific. We all have varying numbers of people to do the eating. Post the size of your team to be impressive.

Secondly, these amounts are unimpressive. A...

Re: [wiki]: Renew domain name?

I don't think that phrontist has the domain, seeing as he didn't start it. If he did, however, good luck trying to get it back. He lost our team's domain as well.
